Canico, Royal Orchid

The Royal Orchid Hotel in Canico De Baxio Madeira exceeded all my expectations. The warmth of personality from all of the staff who are all from Madeira ensures that you receive the most generous of hospitality. The restaurant offers both buffet and Ala Cart menus of which is superb. The rooms are spacious well equipped and with balconies offering fantastic sea views as it is perched on a cliff. The indoor spa and gym is very well equipped and the outdoor pool and lounges on the sea facing terraces great for relaxing. Free shuttle bus into Funchal, Excursion companies will pick you up right outside. Promenade walk for the evening stroll, rather steep steps for those less mobile. Set amongst local villas and apartments all adding to the areas character. Regular buses into Funchal, supermarket and restaurants all nearby as well as a few other prestige hotels. Free internet in the lobby and lounge, helpful friendly reception staff as are all the staff nothing is too much trouble. Only 10 minutes from the airport by Taxi.
