Brisemar Appartments, Alvor, Portugal

I have recently returned from a lovely 7 day holiday during the first week of September 2011, staying at the Brisemar Appartments in Alvor, Portugal. The complex was very good. appartments clean and large, with all the essential equipment required. The complex and pool was well maintained with access to a bar and snack service. In the evening there was entertainment available. There was also a nice Resturant serving local food on the complex. Staff very friendly and helpful, the complex also offered the use of a free shuttle bus to take you to the town centre and the beach. The resort area is lovely with plenty of nice fish resturants spoilt for choice. I would highly recommend the appartment complex and I will be returning next year for a two week holiday

I had a tough time choosing just one (and I had some cirnge-worthy moments reading through a couple of my early reviews!) but ended up picking by Phillip Pullman. I don't know why I just really like this one.

Great Value For Monet Brisamar!!!

We booked through Lowcostholidays.com and absolutely no regrets. We stayed form July 24th-7th August 2011. Really easy check-in but a 75 euro deposit was required and returned at the end of our stay. Reception staff were wonderful and very accommodating. The apartment was large, well equipped (although we had to hire a toaster)and well maintained. Towels changed every 4 days and sheets weekly. Room was swept and mopped every day, rubbish bags cleared etc and the cleaners were very friendly. The site itself was also well maintained, the pool was never too busy and never a problem getting a sun lounger. Only gripe was the ten-fifteen minute walk into town and although this was not a problem for me and my partner we travelled with the in-laws who did struggle a bit.The site does provide a courtesy bus there and back three times daily and it is only 4 euros in a taxi so that is an option. Entertainment was very much geared towards the Portugese so we only stayed on the site two nights out of our fourteen. The onsite supermarket is expensive but a brand new one (Pingo Doce) has just opened and is only a five minute walk away. It is a large, well stocked and reasonably priced supermarket.Alvor itself is wonderful. It has kept its quaintness and remains pretty unspoilt.Just enough bars and restaurants and not too expensive at all.If you are on a budget as we were try to find the Chill out bar and Cactus 2 bars were drinks are very very reasonable (1 euro a beer)and trhe staff were very helpful and vreated a nice atmosphere. The beaches are immaculate and plenty of options for food and drink along the full stretch of beach.

Overall you pay for what you get. Yes this place is a little out of the way and not the Ritz. It is clean and tidy and is a very good standard of accommodation and we were not disappointed. If you are looking for some low cost accommodation as we were then go for it.The apartments provide everything you need (apart from a toaster!!) for a comfortable and relaxed stay at an affordable price.
