Qawra, New Dolmen Hotel

Just arrived back yesterday 5th August from New Dolmen Hotel - had a fab holiday after a rocky start as had been relocated from San Antonio hotel as had been double-booked. Most staff were helpful and accommodating but like everywhere you got the odd misery!

Spa was excellent but if you don't like a 'vigorous' massage then beware!

All five pools were great especially the bigger one on the seafront next to the Amazonia bar - beware of the little pool for younger ones as it is freshwater.

Great selection of food for brekkie and the Batubulan seafront restaurant was excellent for evenings.

Beware of timeshare touts but we were firm and often ignored them.

Casino is a must to visit - we didn't bet just went to 'people-watch' and drinks are cheaper!

All in all the hotel was fab but the air-conditioning was the only fault - not on in reception or restaurants and was noisy and inadequate in rooms

Having read many good reviews on the website decided to switch my hotel to the Dolmen. On arrival we were put in a very small room which I felt was totally inadequate for three adults. Asked to be switched which they did quite readily almost as if they knew this was going to happen! New room slightly better but air conditioning did not appear to work properly. Asked for a free standing fan which just about made the room bearable. Food in restaurant was edible but quite bland and very much the same every night - I thought some of the vegetable dishes looked a bit dodgy - mashed potato looked green and crumbly. Entertainment - none except for televised football every night. Altogether very disappointing.

The New Dolmen Hotel in Qawra, Malta is in a wonderful location close to the sea, bus station, shops and bars / restaurants. Although customer service was not as good as I would have liked, possibly due to their laid back approach. The hotel food was really good with a good selection.

Waiting times in the not so 24 hour restaurant did resemble Faulty Towers at times, and we were only occasionally bothered by Time Share Touts, which did not spoil the holiday. The buses are excellent value for money and run frequently. The hotel pools are fabulous, but a must are the pools by the sea where the sea breeze is more than welcome.

We have just come back from the New Dolmen Hotel after a thoroughly enjoyable week. The meals were delicious. Staff efficient and the facilties were extremely good. The location of the hotel is ideal for exploring the island, with bus terminus two minutes from hotel. Would recommend this hotel and will be going back again.

When we booked up this holiday I went on the internet and read some reviews of the New Dolmen Hotel, I was horrified and wished I had seen them before booking.

When we got to the hotel my worries disappeared. The hotel is clean and spacious, the staff are friendly and there are enough pools at the hotel not for it to be over crowded.

The food was average but better than I was lead to believe. This is a fine hotel, Malta is a great place to go and all my family loved it.

The busses are an experience! We had the time of our lives and urge anyone who is thinking of going there, GO and have a really good time! Don't miss the cheese cakes they are delicious!
