Bugibba, Santana Qawra Hotel

Bottom line: bad hotel in good surroundings. Bus terminal is just 100m away, free parking lot just over the street. Restaurants, bars and small shops are just around the corner. OK, I mentioned all advantages of that hotel. Rooms (I had a standard "double" room for a single) are small and very, very sticky. The so called air condition was said to work from 9:30pm to 7am but... The power would be enough to cool a pint of beer not a room.

The temperature in my room was higher than 30 C all the time, just because I preferred to open window during the night and ignore the street noise otherwise I'd get sauna conditions for free (hotel sauna 4' for 45 minutes). I had sunny side room.

Room cleaning was fair but not good.

The quality of food in the hotel (breakfast) was ok (for British subjects :-)) but the fruit salad. The (canned) fruits were at least 4 times bad (fermented). Nothing about the dinner, I just heard other guests complaining the tasteless food. But there is number of other good bars and restaurants around. Best of them was Divan in Triq it-Turisti, but it was also the most expensive one (menu 30').

The staff was different. One of the male staff members was very impertinent, nobody showed any reaction to my complains (AC, bad working elevators, fruit salad).

Not surprised there is only one review and it was 2 years ago.

Was relocated to this hotel after being sent fron San Antonio Hotel and Spa as they had double-booked ours and it appears everyone else who arrived that day.

Santana room was miniscule and drab. We refused to stay and informed the manager at San Antonio that we wanted a flight home immediately or another hotel and was given a room at the Dolmen Hotel.

Have revisited the Santana Qawra Hotel 3 times and stayed there with friends.

Central. Pleasant surroundings. Helpful on day of departure - always a plus I feel.

Extremely helpful in times of crisis (accident in middle of night).
