Fasano, Masseria Marzalossa Hotel

Masseria Marzalossa Hotel is a very nice hotel spoiled by the blandness of the food served at dinner with with a cost of 40 euros per person without drinks too expensive. likewise breakfast offering quite pathetic. With the hotel having lemon and orange plants growing in abundance surely the owner could supply fresh fruit juice at breakfast instead of the watered down variety out of a carton. Also no phone in room and no hot drinks facility in room which was a surprise. Overall overpriced hotel which is best avoided. There must be better hotels elsewhere.

It took ages to find the Masseria Marzalossa Hotel because the road layout had changed and the signs are extremely small. When we arrived the member of staff refused to give us an accurate map and threw our key at us. It did not have a number on it so we literally had to try all the doors. As we'd arrived late in the afternoon we opted to pay €40 extra each for the home-cooked dinner. Well it was disgusting - no Italian housewife would admit to such fayre. It was frozen value range food: the desert was half-frozen, the meat all fat and bone and the coffee cold. Breakfast was no better - just stale cornetti left and they had bugs in. Having tried for an hour to get a pool towel we asked to speak to the patron. We were verbally abused by her on the assumption that we did not speak Italian (wrong!) and then she harangued her staff aggressively. The remaining 3 nights were awful and upsetting and we had to endure even more abuse when we came to settle our bill.

The building is beautiful and the rooms spacious and tasteful but I can truthfully say this is the worst place in Italy I have ever stayed in.
