We Asked Kinnity Hotel To Change Room As A Wall Ha
We asked Kinnity Hotel to change room as a wall hanging directly above the bed was thick with dust. A different room provided no tea or coffee making facilities, which, after a long journey and a long wedding ceremony, would have been most welcome, and I would have thought, are supposed to be standard at even a basic three star hotel. It was shocking also to see elderly guests lugging their own luggage up and down some fairly perilous stairways, one guy looked like he was going to have a heart attack. We thought it churlish to complain, as were were at a wedding and didn't want to create a scene, so settled for room with no tea/coffee/kettle. Wedding reception was lovely, as wedding receptions are. The morning after, we ordered room service. Tepid tea and congealed lukewarm breakfast arrives on sad tray with canteen type plate stackers. An asked for Irish Times adds 13 Euro to our bill. A reasonable letter of complaint to the management the following week elicits no response at all. Complete silence. The wedding couple confide in us that they were not impressed with their treatment after the event...some unopened wine, the property of the groom, went astray, and the young couple were made to feel like skinflints on asking for it back. Do not stay there for a treat weekend away, do not get married there, in fact, drive right by, there are plenty of welcoming, clean and reasonable hotels in Ireland, Kinnity Castle is just not one of them.
