cactus apartments - great location, lovely pool, lovely staff, we were couple so not the best place to stay. very loud!!! but nice at same time. very suitable for groups rather than couple. parties every night!

Laganas, Cactus Apartments is a great place close to everything, friendly staff, clean, good craic

A group of six of us spent a week in Laganas in early July 2006, and whilst that may be long enough so we don't majorly fall out, most of us wanted to stay when we were going home.

The Cactus Apartments are in a brilliant location, and literally 2 minutes from the beach, and the same from the main strip. Despite that, you can't hear loads of noise from it. In fact, it was only people staying there that woke a few of us up one night. Not everyone was like that though. Most of the people were great, and we met this Scottish lad who was cool.

The pool was excellent, with beds always available and top music playing all day. There was also cheap internet access, plus the pool bar is ace! The man who works there at night makes gorgeous cocktails, and he talks to you about anything. He'll do anything for you. He let my friend make her own drink - top class! Oh, and the food during the day is great! The jacket potatoes are yum! The other guy was less jolly, but he had just got divorced, so I suppose that's OK.

There's the brilliant Yamas restaurant just down the road, where the PR will get you some cocktails for free! He's class, and he also works at G-Spot. Plus, a little walk down the strip (away from the sea) is Ionian Sea; serving brilliant food! However, stay away from Sirocco which is on the beach. The guy outside is lovely, but he should work elsewhere because he's too nice, but the waiter was incredibly rude and called my friend "a bit funny" because she didn't like their excuse for a fillet steak. Just next door at Greek Islands there is this hilarious Greek man who wears a costume and dances.

On a night I'd say go to Rescue, as it is one of the best nights out on the island. There's also Zero's where you can dance on this big 'Z' in the main room. We didn't discover this until the last night, but Mad Murphy's Irish Pub is FANTASTIC! It doesn't play the same stuff as the other places, and it's a little more cheesy, but it's fab! If you go to Laganas with First Choice or Twenty's - go on the Bar Crawl. It has to be one of the best nights out they do! We met loads of people.

The Baywatch Beach Party was OK. We bought tickets off a moped and then everyone was saying they were fake, which they mostly are, but for this they are 100% real! It was OK, but only two cocktails were free and they had to turn the music down because of the police. Oh, and everyone got in the way on the picture, and the t-shirts aren't free!! It rained that night and people got naked - that was a laugh.

We stayed round the pool most days, but Zante Town was OK if you head for the harbour and cafes. The shops are not good. The taxi ride back was a highlight - 6 in a taxi!

The rooms do the job. The beds were comfortable, despite some people having dodgy pillows. The room wasn't great for cooking, but you can make toast. The cleaners weren't great either, and they only seemed to empty the bins and sometimes make the bed. I wiped the floor myself! Generally though it was alright.

The airport is tiny! It's not as bad as they make out, but there is one shop and a sandwich place, and also a lack of seats.

The other bad point was the rubbish on the streets. It isn't litter all over, it's just that the bin bags get piled up and they don't move them.

All in all though it was fantastic! I'd definitely go again.
