Skiathos Town Acmedes Studio

After reading a very scathing report of the Acmedes Studio apartments in Skiathos Town I was worried sick at what we might find waiting for us. When we got there we were pleasantly surprised and relieved that most of these allegations were unfounded or had been rectified. We went on holiday with our 14 and 16 year old sons who are old enough to be embarassed to be seen with their parents but not old enough to go out partying anywhere too risky so Skiathos town was the ideal location as it has some night life which is quite low key, the reps and Brits that are out there working make up most of the teens/twenty somethings so we felt safe letting the kids out on their own in the evenings. The shops were plentiful and varied as were the bars and I don't think I have ever seen so many restaurants in one town. The whole island is very picturesque we went to at least a dozen beaches in 2 weeks, and thoroughly recommend a boat trip that takes you beach hopping round the island. Go to the harbour at about 9.30am and you will get a ticket for around 15 euros each and enjoy some spectacular beaches that are only accesssible by boat, if you are looking for a cheap and cheerful self catering holiday in beautiful surroundings the Acmedes Studios is perfect and I would definitely go back but maybe not in August as the town was a bit too crowded.
