Relax And Enjoy!

I just returned from a week at the Electra Palace with my sister. We had a lovely room overlooking the pool area and stage, with the mountains behind. No need to go downstairs for the entertainment - we could watch it from our balcony. And if we didn't want to listen, the double glazing was very efficient when we closed the door. The mattress was a bit hard for mty taste, so I just folded up a blanket and put it under the bottom sheet, which worked a treat.

There was a good variety of food on offerin the main restaurant, mostly very good quality. We also enjoyed the Italian and Chinese restaurants, which have to be booked in advance. There was not a great deal of choice, though.

We found the staff friendly and helpful, and were happy with the range of 'inclusive' drinks - however my sister eventually refused to get me a 'sex on the beach' cocktail!

We enjoyed the trips provided and had a coach trip round the island, a boat trip to Symi and a trip to Turkey. We visited Rhodes town (which we loved )by taxi, because the bus stop was a fair walk from the hotel.

All in all a very enjoyable holiday, with perfect weather (sunny and about 28 degrees), except for the morning we left when there was a thunderstorm.

We Have Just Got Back From The Electra Palace With

We have just got back from the Electra palace with lots of mosquito bites.

The hotel is right under the flight path, therefore every plane landing into the airport will be heard day and night. The earliest plane I heard coming in in the morning was at 3:30 and the last one coming in for the night was at around 11pm.

On 2 occasions during our 2 week stay there was a notice on the lift saying out of order.

Afternoon snacks are available from 4:30pm to 5:15pm. Free.

Rhodes is a very hot island. It is nice when you are in a bikini lying in the sun but not if you are having a day trip around the island. It is definitely well in the 40's in the summer.

The pool is good, average to big so never overcrowded although the shallow end is around 1.3 m so not good for children. There is s big baby pool. There is a hot jacazzi. Beach towels are available and you don't have to get up that early to put towels on sunbeds.

The beach is very shingly and pebbly, no sand, the sea does get very deep very quickly however if you swim out far enough you will be able to stand up again and touch pure golden sand. Very weird. But it is good for skimming stones. You do also get free sun lounges and umbrellas on the beach.

There is a kids club for the under 12's with only 2 entertainers. They are good at their job but there does need to be some more activities as there was only yoga, darts, aquagym, water polo, and beach volleyball. Night entertainment was the worst I have ever seen, either people signing Beatles or abba songs or a traditional Greek dance night or the animation team (boys dressing up as girls) or instruments being played. At 8:30pm there is a mini disco for the kids dancing to songs such as superman, agadoo, kratacus, veo veo, mimic man etc. And there is a kid's play area.

The food is not that good. Each night is a selection of food from around the world. So if you don't like Chinese etc there is not a lot to choose from on that night. You can choose a selection of drinks for the meal depending on time of meal (beer, red or white wine, juices, coffee or tea, or fizzy, or water. There is also a Chinese and Italian restaurant that you have to pre book the night before. Men have to wear long trousers to dinner while women can wear short skits. They also do packed lunches if you want to go out.

Definitely book a suite. It will cost more but there is so much more room and you can separate the room into 2 rooms with a sliding door, so good is someone snores. There is a DVD player in the room so bring some along. You can also hire one from reception for 5 Euros. There is a fridge in the room with a once only fill up of free drinks. But there is a kettle and coffee tea sugar etc that is refilled every day. However I do think that the rooms could be a bit more colourful as ours was white with just 2 very small black + white pictures on the wall.

Reception staff are helpful and there are 2 bell boys that will take up and bring down suitcases

There is no lifeguard

There are internet access points that cost 4.50 for 1/2 hour.

There are lots of stray cats and dogs. We once saw a dog sitting in the pool. Lol

Pool table (2 Euros a game) and a table tennis table

Generally Good Basic Hotel. Clean, Comfortable An

Generally good basic hotel. Clean, comfortable and well equipped. It did lack some stylish touches but as an all inclusive good on the economy side etc. Plentifuul supply of food and variety, but it was often luke warm which spoiled it a bit. The staff were not particularly sociable unless we encouraged them and even then it was hard, they seemed quite miserable which affected us. With regard to the planes flying over each day, we didn't find that a problem at all. In fact watching them was quite interesting. It was extremely windy all of our stay too, not sure if this was normal for that coastline. May have been as the nearby beaches were geared for surfing! Overall, not a bad holiday but nothing that great and we wouldn't go back to the Electra Palace.

Me And Better Half Stayed For 11 Nights At The Ele

Me and better half stayed for 11 nights at the Electra Palace in Trianda, Rhodes and couldn't fault the place. Apart from being right underneath flightpath which wasn't too much off a problem with modern aircraft having such quiet engines. Room was cleaned daily, and had mini bar which is free and replenished every 2 days. Get a room with sea view, it's a must as you can sit on your balcony and watch the ships go by. Not much in the way of entertainment (only had acts on 4 nights out of eleven) and bars shut promptly at twelve. There is a bar opposite called the rainbow which is very friendly, give them an old football shirt and he will love you forever as bar is covered in them. Good for English football games on big screens. Beach is narrow and pebbly, not really for kids however we are returning in September 2007 with 5 year old granddaughter.

Would Go Back Again. The Beach Is Very Pebbly, No

Would go back again. The beach is very pebbly, no sand. Planes fly over the hotel regularly but it didn't bother us or anyone else there at the time. Being upgraded to a five star this winter. Don't know why, it's great as it is.

The Hotel Electra Palace Is A Good Quality Hotel ,

The Hotel Electra Palace is a good quality hotel , rooms cleaned every day also bed linen changed every day. Good quality food, staff excellent there are a few tavernas near to the hotel but we use the Rainbow bar, that's our choice. We have been back to the Electra Palace three times and have enjoyed every minute and would highly recommend the Electra Palace to anyone going to Rhodes. Everything I read in the brochure was true to the hotel and the resort.
