Lindos, George Studios

The George Studios is situated halfway up a mountain, and believe us, its not funny climbing up to the room and down in to the town, some of the pathways are very very steep, most are worn down by the many donkeys you see wandering about making some of the paths extremely slippery, high heels definitely a no no. Good walking/hiking boots essential, when we reviewed the area before our choice of destination the steepness of some of the walkways was not mentioned, so we thought a few home truths should be said, again it is not funny when you've had a few beers and then try to walk back to the room, in some cases we actually took a cab ride back to the room, I would definitely not recommend to people who are elderly or unsteady on their feet. The town of Lindos is very nice, try not to visit the market area between 10am and 4pm, that's when the hordes of day trippers swamp the place, sometimes making it very difficult to move anywhere, the Greek bar & restaurant owners/waiters seem genuinely pleased to see you, they seem to remember you from day to day, there's no pressure from them to visit their bars etc, what we found was most interesting was that at 12 midnight, all entrance doors to the bars & clubs had to be closed, if you want to enter one of these places you had to knock on the doors, and then at 0100am all music had to stop otherwise hefty fines were imposed, there are a few all night clubs dotted about, these were heavily soundproofed, would come here again but perhaps lower down in the town where the paths were not as steep!!
