Beyond Expectation
We stayed at Olive Tree Villa this late June 2013 for two weeks. It is hidden amongst olive groves up on the hillside out of Gaios. It is still only a few minutes drive, but a car is essential. We loved it, it is not for the modern comfort seekers with wifi etc, but if you want to embrace the traditional it is very comfortable. The rooms are spacious and airy. The three shower rooms are sufficient for a larger pary than ours (4). We loved the pool, which is well maintained, and the privacy.
The only downside is if you want to stay at home and cook, the cooking facilities are not up to scratch for a serious cook. The outside barbecue was a mystery to us non-experienced barbecuers and the kitchen cooker was not the easiest - I set fire to it while using the grill which nearly caused the owner to have a heart attack. We went out to eat and the choice is great and inexpensive. The nearest taverna, Bohemissa (walking distance for most), is the best on the island for food and ambiance. The villa owners live on the enclosed property area - behind the security gates - and they are a Greek family with very little English. However they are the most kind helpful and endearing people you could hope to meet, we loved them. They were extremely helpful when we had quite a serious problem to resolve and went out of their way to be hospitable and facilitate our needs. Even though we probably kept them awake until 5 am on a couple of occasions they were never less than warm and I can honestly say affectionate. This is not always the case when like I you have a son with special needs and behavioural difficulties. We will definitely be going back.

We Stayed In Olive Tree Villa, Paxos, In June 2009
We stayed in Olive Tree Villa, Paxos, in June 2009. We like peace and quiet and the location is superb - tucked away in a tiny settlement up a small lane but within easy reach of the capital village, Gaios. No sea views but the setting in the gardens and olive groves is delightful. Compared to some of the newer villas on Paxos, this one I suppose could be considered slightly old-fashioned inside and really our only negative is that is doesn't have aircon. BUT it is a good size, has 3 shower rooms/wc's, an open plan kitchen/living area, a very large covered verandah and a huge private pool area. All 3 of the bedrooms are a good size and the master has an en-suite. There are a few steps up to the terrace, but once you're inside it is all on one level. The charming Greek owners live close by and are there if you need assistance. A car is essential but Olympic include one in the cost of the holiday. Overall, excellent value for money and highly recommended.
