Kefalos, Popi Apartments

It was a convenient five-minute walk from the resort centre to the sand & shingle beach a large supermarket and eating places.

The resort has two lovely swimming pools, sun beds and parasols and a pool bar which serves inexpensive food, ice creams and drinks all day, use of the pool is free.

They showed their pride in their vocation by making the complex so clean and tidy and going out of their way in being helpful.

Kefalas is truly a peaceful hillside town and a great place to relaxation, with its beautiful little harbour and a good choice of shops, bars and restaurants.

We dined at proper Greek restaurant/s as well as your normal ones with Fresh Fish and Greek food, Italian and English and we also tried the same places that Greek families used, all the restaurants we visited were friendly, kind, good, inexpensive and fun.

After reading some of the bad reviews for Villa Popi we were apprehensive about our holiday thankfully we can say they were unfounded (professional complainers).

Our Stay was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable holidays ever, we picked this holiday from First Choice to chill out and chill out we did. Thank you Popi and family for making our holiday so enjoyable not forgetting the First Choice Rep.

Kefalos itself is a lovely place with plenty of great restaurants and bars all over looking the sea, small sandy beaches but also has a stoney beach too. Villa Popi apartments are not very clean! When we arrived the sheets on one of the beds were dirty! We where here for a week and the sheets were changed once the bins were emptied once (including the toilet bin as you can't flush toilet paper down the toilet) the floors were dirty and didn't get swept or mopped the once whole week. The rooms don't have any sort of seating area apart from at the table but these are dining chairs so not very comfy rooms all seem to be a bit dated. Air con is in all rooms but for a 35 Euro charge. Rooms also have a safe but again there is a charge but Kefalos seems to be a very quite place so we didn't bother. I would say this area of Kos is more suited to couples who are looking for a quiet break as there is not really much to do, there are a few bars but they are quiet bars which suited us, probably not a place for young children or clubby teenagers. All Restaurants, supermarkets and bars are very cheap and the quality of local food is excellent. I would return to Kefalos but not to Villa Popi.

We had a fantastic time in Kefalos, the Greek nation are fantastic hosts, the food is fabulous and everyone is so friendly, the studios are ideally situated next to the harbour. Yes it's quieter but that's what we wanted. The beach isn't fantastic ie golden sand but the small stretch next to the harbour was sandy and perfect to go for a swim. To hire two sunbeds and a parasol was 5 Euros per day, at last year they wanted 25 Euros for the same in Menorca. We loved Captain John's and Sebastian's for meals and Sidneys was good for entertainment.

The apartments were, shall we say compact and bijou but spotlessly clean. After all, all you do is sleep in them and have a few Mataxas on the balcony. The pool is spotless as well, with enough sun loungers to accommodate even the Germans but it seems their invasion never got as far as Popi's. I would recommend it to all who are looking for a friendly welcome to a peaceful villa with lovely people. The villa itself comprises of about twelve apartments, with a pool and an infant pool. Poolside bar and snack hut, with reasonable prices and pleasant staff. Kefalos itself is a beautiful resort, only twenty minutes transfer form the airport.

I have to say, as a frequent traveller to Greece and it's Islands, that Kos and Kefalos are the cleanest, most unspoilt resorts I have had the pleasure of visiting in my 20 years of Greek holidays. So much so, that I intend to return there with my two daughters, their husbands and our three grandchildren next year in 2008.

If you stay here you have got to eat at the golden fleece and the people at B52 will make you feel very welcome.

Try hiring a car and go up into the mountains the views back across Kefelos are something to see.

Kefalos, Popi Apartments - Popi's is situated near the harbour, the quieter end of Kefalos/Kamari Bay. Only minutes from the beach and the main road along the resort that has all the bars and tavernas. Pool very clean and enough sun loungers even for those who come from other apartments. Food at poolside bar tasty and not too expensive. Poolside bar only seems to be open late on nights that there are flights but if you ask nicely Popi, or her daughters will gladly stay up and serve and chat with you.
