The Orion Hotel In Rethymnon Is Favoured More By F
The Orion Hotel in Rethymnon is favoured more by French, Italian and Russian guests. One couple we met was staying in the prince apartments next door and run by the orion. their pool was actually empty! no water in sight and mid august too. the lobby area and reception is nice, the cocktails are different, not made as you would expect, just different drinks poured into a glass and add a straw. the reception girls were very helpful and polite although my reported faulty light switch was never fixed. the web site for the hotel advertised afternoon snacks, burgers etc available. No there not. you can get a ham or cheese sandwich that does not look very nice and thats it. they also say afternoon tea and cake, no cake, only biscuits or peanuts. oh dear. these people really do not have a clue on how to run a hotel i am afraid. 4 star its advertised as. put it against uk standards and its about 2 star at the most. Crete was nice but this hotel, no. 6km's out of the main town as well.
poor rooms - uncomfortable beds, only one English speaking channel on tv, noisy from the main road outside all night as its a busy road, the double glazed patio door and metal shutter did little to reduce the road noise, cramped bathroom, loose (hanging loose) electric fitting in bathroom above bath! faulty electric light switch in one bedroom that sparked and potential lethal, patio drain pipe from floor above spilled onto our balcony overnight with a carrier bag tied on it! not sure where the water came from as it did not rain! bar service was slow after 6pm, some waiters rude and ignored you, restaurant okay but food was very poor, boring in choice, menu repeated every two or three days, always spaghetti every day, little imagination put in by the kitchen/chef, repetitive, very often cold or only luke warm, chips chips and chips, normally cold. one two slice toaster available for the whole hotel for breakfast and one side did not work, 'american' breakfast was the same everyday, the only thing that changed was boiled eggs to scrambled and back again. desserts the same - boring and no imagination. ice cream fruit or jelly or creme caramel. to be honest, the food was bad and some of the worst i have ever had anywhere.
Well, bud, at a 500 euro price for the week for two people, what did you expect from an all inclusive resort? What can be paid with 250 euros a head? The accomodation? The food served? The staff? You mean to tell us that you pay 35 euros a day and expect apart from a top notch room, to eat and drink for free all day? Can you tell us which hotels in England do that so we can go for a visit as well? Also there are raving reviews on Tripadvisor and all the booking engines like Hotels.com, Booking.com just to name a few but here we only see one review and for the hotel and one only from your profile. You must be really grumpy. Next time book more wisely and dont be such a cheapskate
