The First Issue We Had At The Adam Apartments In H
The first issue we had at the Adam Apartments in Hersonissos was that we had only just arrived and got changed, and we were heading out for the evening. We politely asked the owners brother to call us a cab, and we were not sure whether he had or not, so we hailed a cab instead, he then shouted at us "I'm not paying for your cab, you're not in England now", which was highly unacceptable for a mis-understanding.
Later on that evening when we returned there was no water at all, which lasted until the following afternoon. When we asked what the problem was we were rudely told "wait I have just woken up". This went on for the duration of our stay.
On the third night there was a power cut as we were trying to get ready in the evening, and we had to sit in the dark and wait for power to be resumed.
The apartments were full of Dutch people, and there were only 2 English groups that I know of during our stay (us included), and we feel we were discriminated against because we were English. We were getting the blame for ALL the noise, but when we got the blame and a warning for running up and down corridors when we were not even in the building at the time, it was becoming beyond a joke, seeing as we only went back to get changed of an evening and to sleep because we hated it so much.
The owners brother said we were trouble makers when we complained about the issues we had with the apartments, ie. no water, and no hot water etc. He kept threatening us with the police, and when we asked on what grounds, his reply was "don't worry I have my ways" so we felt like we were walking on egg shells around him. If we did complain about anything he would just tell us we could either accept it or leave, as apposed to addressing the problems.
He also told us we were not allowed people back of an evening, and we were under the impression he meant to sleep, but when our friends from England who had just arrived in Crete and had travelled hour to see us at 9pm, the owners son called the room and started shouting at us "what have I told you about having people back", over and over again before he put the phone down (our last warning). Our friends had only been in the building for 5 minutes, and I am sure he wouldn't have done the same if it was 2 married couples! Also, the laughable thing was he told us we had been having them back every night because he had seen them coming and going when they had only just arrived that day, and it wasn't a case of mistaken identity because we had no people back during our whole stay.
There was also a security guard who followed us everywhere when we returned of an evening. It was like being in a prison with "lights out". We were made to feel like naughty children.
We complained to the rep (Cosmos) numerous amounts of times, but she did not help us at all. When we BEGGED her to move us, she spoke to us like children, and wouldn't let us use her phone to speak to her manager when she was on the phone to him!
After spending a fortune on tearful phone calls to my dad in the U.K to get us moved, we were finally asked to leave after all the "Dodgy" complaints, about noise we hadn't even done but were blamed for. And their final reason for kicking us out? Our high heels on the floor coming home, the evening before.
We then had to pay for accommodation ourselves at 175 Euros each, which was a big part of our spending money, which meant we were limited to our activities, when this should NEVER have been an issue in the first place.
I would like to believe it was all a misunderstanding, but It didn't feel like that!
