Sirios Village, Crete
On arrival on 18 September 2012 we were allocated a pool-view room. The room was fine but we were on the first floor with the restaurant's unattractive roof directly outside our balcony. As we had booked a garden-view room we asked to change but were told this could only be done the next day.
We moved the next day to a garden-view which was very nice apart from one major design flaw. The WC could only be sat upon by a very short person. My 5' 1" wife was ok with this and didn't want the hassle of moving again so we didn't complain. I was only able to use the toilet side saddle.
I requested a softer mattress for my bed and this was arranged without any fuss. The staff were always helpful and friendly.
The food especially the salads was very good except that it was unusual to find anything that was hot. The "hot" food was usually only warm.
The facilities at the hotel were excellent particularly the pools. My wife and I had no children with us but it was good to see that children had very good pools including shaded areas.
The beach was a 10 minute walk and is very nice and clean with clear shallow water gradually deepening.
There isn't much entertainment locally but Chania is only E1.10 on the bus which is every 20 minutes. A taxi cost E8. We travelled to Platanias twice for E1.90 by bus, E15 by taxi on the return. We found some good music bars there and I can recommend the Rock House Bar for a great night.
If not for the warm food and the WC I would rate the Sirios Village as excellent.
