Aquis Corfu Holiday Palace, Kanoni, Corfu
Aquis Corfu Holiday Palace, Kanoni, Corfu.
We were rather concerned about seeing some reviews of the hotel (having already booked it!). Mainly the concern was about noise from flights coming in to Corfu airport. However, these were groundless fears. Only a relatively small number of flights come in, and they are not really a problem from a noise point of view, because a spur of land shields the hotel from the airport.
The plus sides are that it is a ten minute taxi ride from the airport. The hotel is a bit dated, (70s to 80s), but so long as you don't mind the slightly jaded decor, it was a friendly, clean and good quality place.
The buffet style food was excellent quality as far as we were concerned. The small beach was a fantastic retreat. there were always beds around the pool and on the beach (well, you had to be a bit sharp on the beach).
The first room we got had a dodgy aircon unit (it sounded like it would collapse in the middle of the night). However, the staff swapped us to a different room with little hassle. You want sea view side of the hotel, floor 5-7, in the centre if possible, for a sublime classic view of corfu. Lower down the rooms would be a bit dark, and on the lake view side I am not sure you would enjoy the view (and I think you do see the airport from there.).
We had a fantastic weeks holiday, and thoroughly recommend the place.
