Overall I Was Pleased With The Hotel, We Had A Roo
overall i was pleased with the hotel, we had a room at the front that was quite noisy in the evenings but to be honest if you want a peaceful holiday then dont go to Paris. You wouldnt go to London to relax would you? the staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was very clean. The only thing I would have liked was tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Montmartre is a lovely but busy place and we really enjoyed it.
I Thought This Hotel Was A Disaster. I Don't Think
I thought this hotel was a disaster. I don't think it is worth the 'affordable' rates. I'd stay away from Hotel des Arts, if I were you.

I Had A Fantastic Stay At The Funny But Excellentl
I had a fantastic stay at the funny but excellently situated Hotel Des Arts Montmartre. From our room you could see the domes of the Sacre Coer and some excellent panoramic views over the rooftops of Montmartre right into Paris.
While Many People Have Given The Hotel Des Arts Mo
While many people have given the Hotel Des Arts Montmartre in Paris good reviews, many have also complained about overbooking and being shunted off to other hotels. I just returned from Paris and my "confirmed" reservation through Travelocity was not available. The hotel claimed to have no record of it. They blamed the booking agent. By claiming the reservation had never been made they took no responsibility for paying for an equal or better room some place else. I wound up paying twice, with my only option being getting a refund later from Travelocity. They recommended other hotels and called and arranged a room for me. The hotel was 2 stars not 3, and it cost more. They advertise low rates to get people in their lobby, who then have few other immediate options when left with no room. The various travel agencies should have nothing to do with them.
Th Hotel Des Arts Montmartre Room Was Small, Dingy
Th Hotel Des Arts Montmartre room was small, dingy (brown carpet on the walls) a bathroom that dated from the 60's with a shower that sprayed water all over the floor when you used it. There were none of the tea/coffee making facilities, safe or other extras you expect as standard in any hotel nowadays.
The breakfast was a choice of croissants or bread roll !! Tea, coffee or orange juice.
We asked to be moved back to Hotel des Arts and were told that the problems were not going to be fixed so we had to stay there.
This was our first time in Paris and as such we determined not to let it spoil our break, but we do so wish we had known this type of thing is commonplace and we would not have so readily accepted this treatment. You live and learn !!

We Booked To Stay At Hotel Des Arts Early March 20
We booked to stay at Hotel Des Arts early March 2006. On arrival we were told that there was no heating or power on 5th floor and we were to be moved to a more expensive hotel at no extra cost. We were driven to Hotel du Mont Dore. The price was higher but this didn't make sense as the area was worse and the hotel didn't look as nice. We wondered whether the Arts was being used to lure customers with good quality at low price only to farm out all the surplus to other hotels and I looked for reviews on returning home to find the one above.
Here are two suggestions to get a good bargain hotel in Paris. Book the Hotel Des Arts and a few days before arrival e-mail them to tell them you have come across reviews that suggest they bump people on to other hotels and that they better have a room for you or there will be big trouble. Alternatively turn up (early in the day) and if they suggest you are being placed elsewhere ask for your money back as well as the other placement. ie you get a FREE stay. If they say no then tell them that you will stay at the hotel and talk to all other guests turning up that they have to move on and show them reviews from past guests that evidence that the hotel does this. Do they want lots of disgruntled guests or do they give you a free stay? Of course, if this is not a scam and the hotel has a room for you, no problem, you've probably got a bargain anyway.
The Practice Of Being Shunted On To Other Hotels I
The practice of being shunted on to other hotels in Paris is alive and kicking at Hotel des Arts - interestingly no longer a member of Logis de France! You could well find yourselves in the shoes of many travellers before you if you book this Hotel. Do so at your peril!!
My son & daughter gave my husband and I an all expenses paid visit to Paris including the excellent travel provided by 1st class Eurostar. We arrived in Paris back in May for a 3 night stay. After carrying our heavy baggage from Gare du Nord and using the Metro we then walked to Rue Tholoze and to the hotel.
On arrival we too were given the pathetic spiel about the 'new & inexperienced receptionist' and shunted off to Hotel du Mont Dore - this hotel being inferior and way out of Montmartre! The room we had was on the main road and for two of the three nights we stayed was very noisy and we had to sleep with the windows closed and therefore the room was very stuffy.
The manager was unconcerned we had to change hotels and we insisted they provide us with evidence of their moving us to pass on to Eurostar. We are now pursuing a refund and Eurostar are investigating this matter. Come on HDA your old chestnut stories are wearing thin, think up some new excuses. I'm sure the British public with their strong sense of humour could conjure up a few for you!
If you too, have had a bad experience at Hotel Des Arts, I would urge you to please complain. Hotel Des Arts MUST be brought to account and an end put to the deceitful and utterly unacceptable manner in which they are operating. Don't let your dissatisfaction go unnoticed, please help us in making potential customers aware of all these very dodgy 'scams', in the hope people travelling to Paris will think twice before leaving themselves open to yet more disappointment!!!
We have heard that the owners of Hotel Des Arts have several hotels in Paris - could it therefore be then that this hotel alongside H tel Pavillon de Montmartre* with their undoubtedly inviting websites are indeed 'flagships' perhaps, luring unsuspecting customers at the outset and catching them hook, line & sinker on arrival - bumping them off to some of their less desirable hotels in less desirable areas? I think so!!!
*For your information, according to the official website for Hotel Des Arts, H tel Pavillon de Montmartre is a sister hotel of Hotel Des Arts.
Check out tripadvisor for loads more reviews on this hotel - you will be amazed at the complaints that date back to 2003!!
