Latchi Alkyon Villas

We booked all three villas for a 40th birthday. The villa's were in an excellent location in Latchi just mins walk to the beach and shops, bars and resturants. The villas were spacious and each had their own large pool. The decor of the villa's inside is tired and could do with some updating as could the furniture and cooking utensils! The air conditioning was not the best although we were told by the owners / maintenence people that we had it on too long which is rather strange considering it is there to keep you cool! The pool pump broke down so we were without a pool for three days. It was advertised as having internet but was not working when we arrived so the maintenence man, Richard, "went to pay the bill" ! Even after he had so say paid the bill when he was at the property (which was most days from 10.30 - 6.00pm) the internet would go down and then back up when he left ! The villa was not very clean when we arrived, there were lots of cobwebs and dust and throughout the holiday to be honest apart from changing the towels and sheets there was not much in the way of cleaning, certainly not in the bathrooms! The whole attitude of the maintenence and cleaner was poor, we were forever doing somthing wrong like "sleeping in the wrong bed" or "keeping the television on" when we were outside and she was forever turning off the air conditioning. An abundance of things were either wrong at the property when we arrived or went wrong whilst we were there the list is too long to mention. But the one thing I will say is that after returning to the UK and sending a 3 page e-mail to the owner who then obviously spoke with the maintenence guy and the cleaner, I received a very abusive and disgusting e-mail which I cannot write on here as it has swearing in it ! To date I have not heard what action if anything the owner has taken regarding this e-mail. We enjoyed our holiday but would have been much better if the maintenence man and cleaner were not there so much it felt as if they were holidaying with us.

We spent one week in September in the Polis/ Latchi area with some friends at the Alkyon Villas - we stayed in a 3 bedroom villa (ensuite bathrooms in each bedroom) with a private swimming pool and very good self-catering facilities at very good value for money (if you ask me, they should charge more - we paid £100 per night between 3 couples!). Our villa was only about 100 metres from the sea and within a few minutes walk to Latchi fishing harbour and marina. Alkyon Villas is set right near the Akamas Wildlife reserve and peninsula which made it brilliant for hiking. We went on 3 different trails while we were out there and the views were amazing. We rented a car and visited some of the surrounding villages like Neo Chorio - the tavernas there make good meze! A couple of nights we just went walked to the harbour area and ate fresh fish and drank wine next to the sea. It might sound cheesy but it really was a magical holiday. Recommend it to anyone.
