Jomtien, Garden Hotel

Jomtien is about a five minute taxi ride from Pattaya so you getter a better nights sleep than staying in Pattaya itself. Taxi costs about 80p to go to Pattaya and double to come back (no idea why !). As a couple we prefered Jomtien as there aren't many go-go bars. We were there when the 'red shirts' were causing trouble and it was also low season so Jomtien was a ghost town. The hotel is pretty nice, rooms are ok, getting a bit battered over time, the showers needed replacing. Our friends in the room next door had an invasion of insects in the room, reception sent a guy with a spray can and that was the end of that problem. The pool is fantastic, tapers in depth with seating areas under water. Nicely landscaped with palm trees etc, fountains. Beware the cost of bottled water at the pool at 45 baht, its only 14 baht for a bottle double the size in the local 7/11 store just down the road.

We were originally given a room at the back of the hotel but after an appaling night listening to the local bar outside for hours we asked for a quiter room the next night and the staff obliged without any problems.

All in all I'd say the hotel is value for money even though some of the rooms are looking a little bit tired. Rooms have flat screen TV's, we had two double beds, bathroom had bath with shower over.

Reception staff we really helpful when we needed to move our flights, they helped us call the Airline as we can't speak Thai.

The only reason we wouldn't recommend this hotel to a friend really is because we weren't too keen on Jomtiem or Pattaya, the hotel itself, you could do far worse.
