Sad Example Of Malaysian Hospitality
On check in, there was a deafening din coming from maintenance work going on right in the reception which deafen communication, thus delaying the entire process.
The room was not prepared i.e. the air conditioning not activated on arrival, therefore one enters a humid hot room and the fridge is also not switched on so the water bottles are not cold ready for consumption. There is a humongous industrial coloured and styled electrical fuse box stuck on the wall by the front door which one is supposed to know how to activate when first time into the room!
Room size is adequate but annoyingly there is no towel rail in washroom. There is a domestic style plastic shower unit in a marble washroom with no bath. Later I found the bathroom in the gym is more luxurious then the one in my room and it had a full size bath! The plastic orange and white kettle is an afterthought as it clashes like a pimple to the dark wooden décor and is too big to remove from under the tap when filled with water! There is no brown sugar sachets for coffee.
Another issue regards the gym and pool which opens at 9am whilst breakfast ends at 10.30am which means unless one wants to exercise on a full stomach, it’s impossible to exercise prior to breakfast. As a spa resort, I would at least have thought this contradiction would have been ironed out.
Breakfast is adequate with limited choice, average taste and quality concentrating mainly on Asian choice leaving our European visitors to scrap over basic hotdog sausages, limp transparent bacon lookalikes and passable egg concoctions.
For a 5* rated establishment, overall conclusion is regretfully disappointing. The main denominator in my perception is the general lack of understanding the guests’ needs coupled with a malaise ‘can’t be bothered’ attitude throughout from the numerous paint brush marks over wooden door frames fixtures and metal window frames, the cracked and chunks missing in marble coverings and stair steps to its general inhospitable customer service.
Unless the entire establishment urgently revamps its business acumen on both its overall management and physical establishment, I cannot recommend this venue.
