I Had Been To The Mirimar Golf 8 Years Ago And Had

I had been to the Mirimar Golf 8 years ago and had a fab time so booked this hotel without any worries. I started to worry after reading some reviews after I had booked, although I thought that some people who complained about the prices of food and drink compared to supermarkets, and the fact you could not bring food or drink into the hotel were unreasonable as I don`t know any hotel in the UK that would permit this, {should these people not be in self catering apartments!!!} Now onto the hotel I have to agree it definately is not the hotel that it used to be and having spoken to the more than helpful staff they explained there had been a lot of problems over the last few years but these are starting to be resolved. The place needs to be painted and the bathrooms updated. The maids cleaned our room and changed our beds and towels daily, and were very helpful giving us extra pillows and clothes hangers even little touches like fanning my nightdress out on the bed.As I have already said the staff were so welcoming and helpful even to our friends who came to our pool most days as it was so much quieter than their hotel. Our friends stated that they felt more welcome at the Mirimar than there hotel. The food was fine obviously not British fare but we were in Tunisia and we did not go hungry, boiled eggs, fried eggs on occasion french toast, to name but a few for breakfast, my husband and I enjoyed our evening meals even having mashed potato once, there was not a huge choice of meats in the evening but there were very few British staying while we were there. Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday and I look forward to going back especially to see the improvements which we were informed are to be made. Felt it was value for money.

Thomas Cook Is Okay But Way Behind Thomson Or Firs

Thomas cook is okay but way behind Thomson or First Choice. We were left outside the hotel and they forgot to pick us up. We nearly missed our flight back home.

If you want a cheap holiday at the expense of bland and rubbish buffet dinner then this hotel will live up to the expectations.

Stayed At Hotel Miramar Golf In Port El Kantaoui F

Stayed at Hotel Miramar Golf in Port El Kantaoui for one week. Prices at the Hotel are 5 times the price compared with local supermarkets, not allowed to take any food or drink into the Hotel even a bottle of water as you will be searched by security. Hotel management are friendly when trying to sell you tickets for entertainment, although they are only after your money. Entertainment in evening is totally rubbish. Pool area very small, daily charge for sun loungers no alternative seating area by pool so you must pay just to be by the pool.

My only advice is simply don't go there, as I am sure there are better hotels in Tunisia and this cannot be a true reflection of Tunisia.

Although We Were Bitterly Disappointed With Both T

Although we were bitterly disappointed with both Tunisia and the Hotel Miramar Golf, we were on a late deal, so we didn't pay the full price - thankfully.

Firstly, the hotel. Very nice on the face of things until you arrive in your room. The rooms are very basic, and there is a maid service every day. You are woken up by a maid knocking on the door and walking into your room without waiting to be invited in, with little regard for privacy. If you are lucky your towels are changed, but in our entire two week stay our bed sheets remained the same. Day by day my shampoo bottle got emptier and emptier - when I complained to the owners wife I was told this was probably the maid using it to clean the bath?! On some days there was a smell of my own perfume in the air, so I guessed this was being used as the air freshener! When we arrived in the early hours we were shown to our room, only to find the air conditioning blowing hot air. We were given a change of room overlooking the pool, where they explained there was a breeze which would cool the room. What we weren't warned about were the mosquitoes that devoured our bodies like piranha fish. Upon speaking to other guests we were told the air conditioning was switched off, didn't work or was being cleaned out. We never had air conditioning throughout our stay, and with day time temperatures in the 100's this makes sleeping difficult.

Breakfast was tasteless, with little choice. A toaster that took three goes to turn the bread a soft shade of brown, and powder made juice - yuck. Tomatoes, cheese and hard croissant's - not my cup of tea.

Next to the pool. It looked very nice, and was washed with gallons of powder stuff each night, so I presume this was what was on the bottom each day. By week two it had become pretty dirty and quite murky. The edge of the pool was made up of hard rough pebbles which cut up your feet - I managed to cut open both big toes and lose half a toe nail on it. The bed boy put the beds out where you wanted, which was good, but to then have to pay a pound each day for one, added up over two weeks. The waiter service was very good, and most of the staff were friendly and happy to help. The lunchtime food was varied, but again tasteless. Countless holidaymakers had stomach upsets and diarrhoea. The prices in the hotel doubled those on the outside. The buffet evening meal did not vary much from day to day. The food was bland, and as a result people were spending extra money to eat elsewhere. The weekly BBQ was the normal meal with a bit of BBQ meat on top. It could not be eaten as it was raw in the middle. To leave the hotel to go to the port was a taxi ride. If the hotel made the taxi call for you, they then charged for the call. One gentleman was offered the use of a wheelchair for his elderly friend - at the end of their holiday he was given a bill for its use. (I find that appalling). There were limited facilities for wheelchair use, and on countless occasions the one small lift broke and people had to use the stairs. We were told that the hotel switches it off sometimes to save electricity! There was one shop on-site which charged the earth for anything. Different prices for different customers, and the crisps/chocolate tasted like they had been on the shelves for months. Local supermarkets were much better, but if you entered the hotel with a bag, the staff demanded to look into it and would not let you take any food/drink inside, even alcohol bought as gifts. It was however, OK to pay double the price in the shop.

Overall, I was not at all impressed by this hotel, and I would not recommend it to anyone. Port El Kantaoui in Tunisia is a friendly place, but there is not much to do. If you want cheap and cheerful, and just want to lounge about by the pool every day, then Tunisia is good. The weather is warm, and I would recommend scuba diving and quad biking. The Port is full of shops and restaurants, but you will be hassled by the staff, and some are rude if you don't listen to them or buy anything. REMEMBER to haggle - considerably reduce their asking price, generally by 3/4. Good luck, I certainly will not return.

My compliments do go to the My Travel airline. The steward/esses were brilliant and the meals were excellent. There were no delays; both flights were exceptionally good.

Hotel Rooms At Port El Kantaoui Hotel Miramar Golf

Hotel rooms at Port El Kantaoui Hotel Miramar Golf were pretty basic but clean. Towels were changed everyday and staff were very friendly and made every effort to cater to you're needs.

Food was repetitive and bland and we could have done with much more variety, but the marina was only 20 minute walk away so in desperate times you can always opt out of the hotel food.

We went in the last week of Feb so the weather was just getting better. However, because its not holiday season, everything in terms of evening entertainment outside of the hotel finishes at 11pm.Due to this, we had little choice but to put up with the hotel entertainment which was terrible! To our relief, there was a fab bunch of people at the hotel at this time so we were able to make our own fun.

Also, to their credit, for the most part, staff were always willing to please and they cannot be faulted for their efforts.

Beware of the price increase everywhere you shop....be ready to haggle!

For the price we paid, we cannot complain about this hotel and if you're happy with clean, cheap and cheerful, you shouldn't go too far wrong with this place.

When We Arrived At Hotel Miramar Golf At 4am, We W

When we arrived at Hotel Miramar Golf at 4am, we were allocated a room on the detached block which was unacceptable - the toilet didnt work, bath was disgusting, curtains were dirty, the balcony was on top of a muddy field and the smell of sewers was unbearable. On complaining at 8am, we were moved to a room which was more acceptable situated with balcony over looking the pool.

Rep was good and excursions enabled us to see much of Tunisia. Hotel provided a horse and carriage which took people to the beach and back during the daytime only. The hotel has its own beach with a wide selection of water sports including Banana Boat and Paragliding at a very reasonable price. The Banana Boat is good fun and worth going on.

Able to change currency easily at reception. Telephone is expensive in hotel but if you walk round the corner to Mouradhi Palace Hotel, there is a cheap coin operated phone. The guests at this hotel can visit any other hotel except all inclusive ones.

Worth visiting the marina in the evening but expect a lot of hasslers for girls. Tunisians will charge tourists more than other Tunisians so prepare to barter a lot and remember to have fun with them and if Tunisian men say hello or go to shake hands with you when walking by you, no harm is intended. If you do not wish to be bothered by them, avoid making eye contact.

Variety of transport is available eg: taxis, horse and carriage,Noddy train and tuctucs(open taxis-pink/purple). Reps will tell you what you should be paying in taxi fares etc.

As you know they drive on the right hand side and can be erratic with lots of beeping of horns. When walking on sidewalks taxis will drive past and hoot constantly for a fare.

A weeks stay will not be long enough as 10-14 days is adequate.

Overall it was an enjoyable holiday and we met a lot of new people.

Hotel Miramar Golf Is A Great Hotel To Relax, I Wo

Hotel Miramar Golf is a great hotel to relax, I would recommend it.

It is a quiet hotel with Tunisian entertainment which is hilarious. Most people stayed in the hotel in the evenings and we made many friends. Not much for children here though. We will be returning for 2 weeks in June cant wait.
