Basic Hotel Room But Don't Be Put Off Altogether!

Went here as a family of 5 in April 2014. 2 adult and 3 children age 10, 7, 4.

Overall, we really enjoyed our holiday here and the positive points, by far, outweigh the negative points! After reading some dreadful reviews we were worried about what we would find but we were reasonably pleasantly surprised! Yes, our actual room was very, very basic and rather dated but it served the purpose for us. It was very clean and maid service every day. Beds made, clean towels etc. The 'front' door locked with a key but the doors on to the private balconies did not have secure locks -but this appears to be the same throughout the hotel and is just the way of Morocco life I think. We had a safe to lock away our valuables and we were high up so it wasn't really a problem once we got our head round it!!!

Shower was spotless and huge so ideal for washing the kids, lovely and warm too!

No air conditioning in our room but despite being 30°c + during the day, the evenings were cool and our room was a comfortable temperature without air conditioning.

Food is buffet style in main restaurant and was very repetitive and boring (!!) However, it was all tasty and fresh. We never went hungry and we are fussy eaters! If you are expecting a good old English fry-up in the morning then you may be dissapointed... However, there was still plenty on offer, pancakes cooked fresh in front of you and omelette made to order while you watch. Cereals, pastries, fruit and yoghurt were always available aswell as toast.

Lunch and dinner were 'ok' but not a strong point! Having said that, there are special restaurants for you to book for free during your stay and we really enjoyed the steak house! This is all inclusive also.

Within the hotel complex there is a little ice-cream stall selling fresh made waffles and ice-cream which were fantastic value and a real treat. It's a shame that this is not part of the all inclusive but still very, very cheap.

The hotel has plenty of pools to choose from in this large complex and we did not have a problem getting sunbeds during the day atall although we used the quieter pools not so close to the main bar. Kids loved it! Hotel gardens are really beautiful and well maintained. They really were a pleasure to see. A really short walk to the beautiful beach which has a private section for hotel guests and an all inclusive bar serving soft drinks.

Beach towels could be hired and changed every other day.

Top tips are to remember that you generally are expected to tip for services in Morocco and to be fair, it is always appreciated and all the staff here work exceptionally hard all day to make you feel welcome and happy so it is worth it! For example, tipping the waiter inthe restaurant meant we were saved a table each mealtime and he brought drinks and cutlery to our table which was a nice touch. You don't have to tip much, a few dirum wad appreciated. We also tipped the maid a few times as she worked just so hard all day and our room was kept beautifully.

Also, keep in mind that when you are in a poor country you will be constantly hassled to look at little bits and bobs to buy.... a firm no thanks seems to work but you need to be persistent!

Overall, we would say this was a comfortable hotel but just keep in mind you are not paying 5* prices so don't expect 5* hotel!! Although we wouldn't rush to return here, we certainly found that the negative reviews were rather brutal and it is frustrating that some people complain about the most ridiculous things!

A basic but clean hotel with acceptable food, hard working staff and beautiful pools and gardens. Overall, decent value for money in our opinion!
