The Le Meridian Hotel In Luxor Reminded Me Of Ball

The Le Meridian hotel in Luxor reminded me of Ballymun flats with the courtyard layout. We were expected to be happy with a room facing the main street, which was noisy with the constant honking of car horns. The balcony had room enough for one person at a time. When we complained and asked to see our Rep, we quickly became unwelcome and were moved at our request to another hotel.

I disagree with this review because having stayed at this hotel for two weeks with my son I must disagree with this review. The hotel was fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The food in the two A La Carte restaurants was freshly prepared and excellent value for money. My son was invited to play football for the hotel team and was presented with a Egypt strip after the game which the staff had paid for.

I am a hotel manager with a large hotel chain in the UK and wish that we could offer accommodation and surroundings for the money and find the staff in the UK who are proud to serve the public as the Egyptians are!

If you want a Benidorm holiday then go there, not Luxor. If you want to open your mind to the ancient world of Egypt then this is the place for you!!

A Happy Traveller!

Overall The Feeling At Le Meridian Is Respectful A

Overall the feeling at Le Meridian is respectful and polite, the staff all greet you and open doors for you as you enter the courtyard or lounge area. The breakfast is excellent, with everything from porridge to made to order omelets. My birthday was a few days into the holiday and the staff came to our room with a cake complete with 'Happy Birthday' in chocolate!

We traveled into the centre of Luxor looking for gifts and souvenirs but found that the hotels on site shops were often better quality and almost the same price as the street, and without the endless hussling. For example I asked the price of a statue at the bazaar and was told 600 Egyptian pounds, I knew the real price to be 20 Egyptian pounds, the hotel quoted me 50.

The hotel also has a small docking area for the Nile tourist sail boats, which we also found well priced and convenient. Although I wouldn't advise going on the coach trips, I would say just rent a cab or air-con car for the day, a cab should only cost about 100-150 Egyptian for a whole day (about £10 -£15 UK)

They also have a cash point (ATM) on site, a bureau de change, a business centre with internet access and a gym, which is free.

The hotel really made the holiday that bit more relaxed after the heat and hustle of Luxor, highly recommended

Fantastic Hotel, Once Inside, Well Tucked Away Fro

Fantastic Hotel, once inside, well tucked away from the Hustle and Bustle of the City. We were lucky enough to have a fantastic view overlooking the Nile, Such a beautiful sight first thing in the morning. Friendly staff, nothing was too much hassle, and if you tip the pool guy, he'd always reserve your sunbed for you! :o)
