Went To The Sea Star In Hurghada After Spending A
Went to the Sea Star in Hurghada after spending a week on a Nile Cruise. Whilst the Nile cruise was a fantastic experience, the Sea Star was most definitely not.
The room was dirty with stains on the bed cover, rug and curtains. The bathroom smelt like someone had recently died in it. The room wasn't cleaned during our week's staff.
The hotel catered mainly for Italian guests and there were only 9 British people. This wouldn't normally be even noticed but we all found that we were treated as second best.
The staff were amazingly and astonishingly rude. The majority of the staff were inefficient and went out of our way to make us feel uncomfortable. One memorable experience was being closely escorted around the hotel mini golf course because they were afraid we would steal the golf equipment. (?!)
The food was beyond description and not in a good way. The same beef and rice dish was served 7 days in a row and we had to wait hours to be served drinks.
We had the added fun of nasty stomach bugs leaving us bedridden for days. And indeed were ill for weeks even after we'd returned home. The bugs must have been something extremely nasty.
Our wonderful week was topped off on the last day by us being dragged across reception by the armed guard and yelled at by hotel staff for buying a bottle of coke for the 5 hour journey home across the desert. (the hotel didn't sell drinks or food).
We did complain to Cosmos but got no joy from them although I note that this year they have removed this hotel from their brochures.
I think the red sea is a great place for a relaxing holiday and lots of fantastic diving - just avoid the Sea Star Beau Rivage.
