Tropicana Garden Palms Hotel

I stayed at Tropicana Garden Palms hotel when the bombing happened last year. I booked through Medhotels. We tried to book again this year as we enjoyed it so much, but we couldn't as they have went AL with Thomson - or so I hear. The rooms are huge,we requested and GOT a quiet room for myself, husband and 11 year old daugher. There is a busy, noisy full full of Italians and a quieter pool, which was mixed nationalities. The food is fantastic, just dont expect chips EVERY night as some British holidays makers do. The wine is an acquired taste,but the beer is ok, just given the local alcohol like gin, vodka a miss etc, if you don't like drinking meths! Why should this spoil your holiday, just take duty free. You can get as much bottled water as you want. There is a shuttle bus that you can take to its sister hotel for a visit to the beach which is ok. I would recommend this hotel to anyone

Stayed at the Sharm El Sheikh Tropicana Garden Palms for 2 weeks all inclusive. I got first bad feeling when I sat at the pool bar and my glass (or plastic) of water reeked of Pernod. The cups, plates, and glasses in the restaurant were often cracked and filthy, as is the cutlery. The food was lukewarm whatever time we ate, unless we went for the soup, which was tasty and hot. The hotel manager (a very big guy) is quite unhelpful, and was I felt, very threatening when I asked for help getting a broken suitcase fixed or tied up. The noise is unreal from aircraft, they are so low you can read the underside, and they fly by very regularly throughout the day and night. Very noisy, as was the party being held at the Hyatt Regency until 4am.

The rooms are basic, there are no balconies. The bathroom hot water supply varies between pale yellow and bright orange. Our rep was hopeless. We booked a Monday trip to St Katherine's with her, but got woken at 5.45am on the Saturday by an irate receptionist telling us we were holding up the bus! Monday came and we sat in reception as directed, from 5.45am to 7am, the bus didn't come for us!! The rep said sorry it was her fault and we could go Wednesday, but we had arranged to meet someone, so we got a refund. Guess what happened? At 5.45am on Wednesday we were woken by the irate receptionist, telling us again that the bus was waiting for us!!! The beaches (some way away) are packed and pretty ugly.

We came back from this holiday feeling run down, and having to go back to work feeling worse than when we went!
