Cape Verde, Santa Maria, Porto Antigo Apartments

Have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Porto Antigo Appartments (self catering) in the old harbour area at Santa Maria. A paradise on earth - super beaches, lots of sun, water sports, places to dine or just have a beer. Food is imported, but most things are available in the 6+ mimimarts including fresh bread and rolls and fresh fruit. We took cereals, powdered milk, biscuits for cheese, tea bags and fruit cake. Visas can be purchased at the airport. Take Euros - accepted almost everywhere but there is a bank and cash point in Santa Maria. Lovely natured people and didn't feel threatened at all. Its all laid back and as they say "No stress".

we went to Porto Antigo Apartments, Cape verde oct 2008 with our 3 children . Beautiful beaches fab weather . A very relaxing holiday .if you are staying in an appartment self catering take a suit case full of food because there arnt many food shops . would go back there again wonderfull place.

We chose the Cape Verde Island as we wanted something a bit different from the normal package holiday. It is just starting to be developed into a tourist island and still retains its charm. It is a beautiful sandy island oasis. The weather is always warm and generally there isn't a cloud in the sky. There is quite a breeze and this can be quite refreshing at times. Best to pack a jacket or jumper for the evenings as it can get a little chilly once the sun goes down.

We stayed at the Porto Antigo apartments through Ocean Club Holidays. We have used them before with their apartments in Lanzarote and always been pleased so thought we would give their new destination a try - we were so pleased that we did. The apartments are very nice, spacious and very clean. They are equipped with all that you need and there is regular maid service. The pool is never crowded and is lovely and warm. There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool.

This is a really lovely piece of heaven and a place everyone should visit!
