Formule 1 Hotel St Witz

I stayed at the hotel for one night, from 2 to 3 September, the joung man that was on duty, saw that I had a small wheeley with me and directly he changed my reservation into a room which I did not had to use the stairs. When I later asked him to help me find another hotel on my trip to Paris, (I walk through France) he looked for what was in my reach, set out a route in Google maps and printed it out for me. He also already reserved the room in the next hotel for me.

I 've bin before in a formule 1 hotel, so I know what to aspect. My room was good and clean, also the toilet and the shower. The breakfast in the morning tasted good.

Pity the girl that worked in the morning did not speak English. But she was helpful.

Some Good Some Bad

We have been staying in formule1s for several years. They used to be cheap clean and cheerful, but that is changing. As they have deteriorated we have tended to stay in the Etaps, but this journey we couldn't get in to the hotels we wanted so as it was Ausust and we have had exerience of there being "no room at the inn" before: we booked the formule one at Basel (which was always spotless) and the formule 1 at Calais (which was getting a bit run down last time we were there).

. How things change in a couple of years!!! The hotel in Basel: we had a twin room - clean, vinyl flooring - spotless- but the toilets - good grief cracked and filthy. However the staff were friendly and we sat outside with our take- away chatting to everyone from all over the world. I used the toilet next to the reception which was the cleanest, and altogether not bad value for money. (Management please take note: new toilet seats needed, and get the staff to clean underneath them!!!!!

But why have I resorted to writing a rewiew, the first time ever.... Calais:- We arrived early and booked in using our card (quite tricky but ok once you have done it before) This resulterd in us being allocated a smoking room - I unfortunately presumed we would be allocated a non-smoking room?????? By the time we returned after tea two bus loads had arrived and when I requested a change of room I had already realised they were almost full to capacity. I was offered a three bed room but decided that I would just put up with it. However the manager was realy nice and offered to spray the room to help remove the smell of smoke. I said I would do it as he was realy busy with his bus loads. However the spray stuff was potent and my husband sprayed the room (I have asthma) and we took our bottle of wine downstairs while the room cleared. THEN THE PROBLEMS STARTED;

First we were asked to vacate the tables in the conservatory area as they were only to be used during breakfast time, unhappy at this point we went outside to sit at the only picnic table available, getting happier on the internet and with a glass of wine we commented at how the Etap at CALAIS had improved as far as cleanliness was concerned and noted the NEW TOILET SEATS.........( BASEL -TAKE NOTE) - THEN WE WERE ASKED TO VACATE THE PICNIC TABLE at 2045hrs. Not happy teadybears now we went to our room - lo and behold the spray stuff had worked miracles- the room smelt fine. WHY COULD THEY NOT HAVE DONE THAT WHEN THEY CLEANED THE ROOM!!!!!!!

I realy think this manager is trying to improve Calais but is it realy so terrible to sit outside on a nice evening with a glass of wine, or sit in the dinning area with a cup of coffee?. It made the place SO UNFRIENDLY

And there you go: that is it : I think, having been brave enough to use the internet for some hotels in Italy (with great success) we will probably try and book different budget ones when we travel.

Terrible Place

After paying 44 pounds a night to stay on the weekend I was shocked at how much of a rip off this place was.

The whole place stunk of poo!!! The toilets stunk and were filthy! Showers filthy!

I have stayed in hostels that were ten times better than this place.

Staff who organised breakfast were rude.

Rooms are a total dump! Was like a hostel but not as clean

A place to stay clear of!

Good Hotel

I've seen some people complain about these hotels saying that you need to share showers and that their ugly etc. Only when you have been to as many hotels as i have over the years will you understand that these arnt that bad. I've stayed in hotels that cost twice as much, often with no hot water, noisy naighbors/nighclubs next door, no tv, internet etc, heating, aircon etc.

F1 hotels are "standard" you can always expect heating, wifi, aircon, TV, very cheap breakfast and very hot showers! And most importantly that the price is always reasonable. Less then 20 euro each with breakfast if sharing! I've paid more for a night of camping then this!

So stop complaining about F1, when you have paid 80-90 euro for a hotel with non of these features out of pure desperation because all F1's are fully booked then it suddenly seems very attractive.

Originally My Intended Length Of Stay At The Formu

originally my intended length of stay at the formule 1 wallsend was from a minimum of 2 weeks to a maximum of 4 weeks. i am not a department of housing client and am responsible for my own accommodation costs. during my time here i have had the priviledge and delight to form many good friendships with the members of the 'f1 team', all of which i hope last a lifetime.

Dwayne Ratko (manager) leads a 'top class' team of employees here and I have the utmost respect and admiration for him professionally and personally. Dwayne has an exceptional ability to develop rapport with others quickly, has a high work ethic and is loved by all who stay here.

thanks for everything f1!!!

Do Not Ever Stay Here Under Any Circumstances!

DO NOT EVER STAY HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

The place is filth, the rooms are scum, the multicoloured doors and corridors give u headaches. The room we were supplied with had p*ss stained matress. Lurch who worked on front desk changed us to a room with no heater. Sure when you pay £35 you dont expect much but this was scrut! The place was similar to guantanamo bay and im sure is full of illegal imigrant workers! The room was similar to aids and would advise any human to think twice before staying in this hell whole....do not stay here especially if you are depressed because this would send you over the edge! Each room should come fitted with a noose...dirty, scummy, scrut - pit!

It Was The Worst Hotel I've Ever Been Into In My L

It was the worst hotel I've ever been into in my LIFE! I stayed at Formula 1 only for 1 night with my boyfriend and it was absolutely discusting. I am not a fussy person and I did not expect 5star quality or service for the price but this hotel was something-else. We asked for a double room and we got a bunk-bed! and the worst part was that we had to share the toilet and showers with everyone-else which was filthy. there was a hand wash basin in the room but no hand wash or even soap. the tv didnt work either. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE.

These F1 Hotels Are Perfect If You're Looking For

These F1 hotels are perfect if you're looking for a stop-over place to stay, they are more like budget travel lodges rather than an actual hotel. They are being modernised across France and we stayed in the one at Linas near the main motorway from Paris to Bordeaux. The toilets are self cleaning so are always clean, as the the showers. The halways at this particular one smelt but the rooms were spot on, a double bed and a single bunk. There's a flat screen TV and power sockets. A small sink is fine for washing. The breakfasts are not spectacular but at 3euros each they're ok, there's two McDonalds within a 5 minute drive, the easiest one to get to is by the Porsche / Mercedes Benz dealership, south east of this site.

You can reserve online or just turnup and make a reservation with your credit / debit card in a cash-machine style system on the wall. Once you've made the reservation, you can open the electronic gate and park your car for free.

I will use these hotels for stop-overs everytime we visit France.

The Formule 1 Hotel Is Reminiscent Of The North Am

The Formule 1 Hotel is reminiscent of the North America chain Motel 6. There is one shared toilet and shower per floor that is self-cleaning Appeared clean, except for some light-white stains on the carpet. Very cheap for a night if sharing. Room did not smell of cigarette smoke. Free car park. Close to Charleroi airport. Next to gas station. Blind keeps room very dark for sleeping. However it was ugly. Hallways smelled of cigarette smoke. Thin walls; can hear clientele down the hall.

Right...you are just forgetting that at Motel 6 you have your OWN bathroom. Motel 6 is not top of the line for sure. But it's definitely a step above Formule 1. ;)
