Villa d'Arte,Mortola Superiore, Italy

What a wonderful stay in Villa d'Arte in Mortola Superiore, near the French border town of Menton. Villa d'Arte is perched on the mountain in a small and typical Italian village with a gorgeous view of the Mediterranean sea. Access to the beach is easy and takes a few minutes by car. One has a choice of at least two beaches in Italy and in France in Menton on the French Riviera or Cote d'Azur. The road leading to the Village is narrow and winding but it is spectacular with a view of both the mountain and the sea and the old Russian cemetery. The accommodation was excellent, spacious, clean, quiet and the owner-sculptress who is at least tri-lingual (French, Italian and English) is the friendliest I have ever seen or met. From my apartment which had a balcony, I could see the valley, the sea and a number of beautiful sculptures. One is surrounded by nature and art everywhere. A place not to miss. There are restaurants in the vicinity, one on the hill above Villa d'Arte near a Roman Catholic church, and shopping is nearby in Latte in Italy and in Menton in France, where there are also cafes that remain open late.
