The Salutation Kent

I took my wife for a romantic getaway for our anniversary and I'd heard of this little gem on the Kent coast so thought I'd give it a try...

WOW! what a place. I have never felt so well looked-after at a hotel before. I say hotel, but it's more of a country house. We stayed in a double room in the Coach House - one of three properties available at The Salutation - which was absolutely delightful. The room was well made up, and my request of flowers in the room on arrival was carried out perfectly.

We were left to our own devices and only heard from staff when we wanted something, which was just perfect. Too often at hotels you get calls for this that and the other but the owners respected our privacy.

In the morning we ate breakfast in the main dining room in the Salutation. Lavishly furnished doesn't even come close to describing the beauty in here. After we ate, we took a short stroll round the gardens (included in the price) before setting off just after lunch.

My only complaint was that we had to leave. There's something so peaceful and so charming about The Salutation; something I haven't experienced anywhere else.
