Derbyshire, Hartle Cottage

We had a dreadful experience at Harthill Hall which my husband had booked as an anniversary surprise. One night in the Hartle Cottage cost £125. It is not easy to find and even some local people seemed unsure. On checking in we were absolutely shocked by how tiny,dark and dingy this place is, even on a bright sunny day. The spotlights didn't work in the lounge and when we had a look round we found bluebottles trapped in cobwebs, shabby towels and bedlinen as well as torn and filthy curtains. We decided to leave after a short time as we both agreed we couldn't sleep in the bed. My husband started to scratch after just sitting on the sofa!! We also paid £25 for champagne and chocolates. The chocolates cost 99p in my local shop and to add insult they had melted and reformed into a congealed mess. This place was awful! We have asked for a refund and their customer service is so bad it's becoming funny! I urge anyone thinking of booking this place to beware!
