Don't book with Cornish cottages. We booked a cottage with them in April for our honeymoon. We took insurance, as we would normally. My husband (who is 31 years old) was diagnosed with stomach cancer in January 2013. We booked the cottages with his Consultant's support as he was doing well. Following chemo, he became ill again 2 weeks before our wedding, just about made it through the day and then had to start chemo again 4 days later. We married on 25th July and had a week of our honeymoon in one of their cottages. We missed our honeymoon, instead spending the time in hospital. I wrote to Cornish Cottages explaining the situation but they refuse to give us a refund. I wrote back following their initial cold response asking them to reconsider and didn't even get a response. Yes terms and conditions for cancellation are required and yes it was a pre-existing condition but surely there is a human element to life. If we had cancelled due to me having a chest infection, we would have got our money back, this seems unbelievable. We have missed out on our honeymoon during what has been the worst period of our lives and they can't even give us back £500.
