Riga, Latvia

Riga was simply an amazing city in the Baltics, where I have stayed with some of my friends while on a way to St.Petersburg, Russia.

Easy to get with Ryanair or Wizzair from London and great for commuting to Russia by bus (just an hours night-drive and you are there), it's full of pubs/bars and clubs for any taste and flavor.

Since we were not big clubbers we simply enjoyed staying in local hostels and meeting people from around the world in local pubs. Latvians are very friendly people and speak English very-very well (and that applies to any other nations living in the capital - Russians, Ukrainians, Lithuanians, Polish and Belarus guys we met over those sunny day were all very friendly and cool guys and spoke English). We have also attended couple of concerts those nights in the local trendy clubs and I should admit people here have a good taste of music.

Getting around was very easy too, hence public transport works perfectly and in case you are lost you can get a taxi ride for a cheap price too. Getting info about the city online was relatively easy, however not straight forward. But we found some websites which gave us info on local trendy places, they all were ok to get the basic touristic info, but there was one which worked super-well for us and I wanted to list that so you could enjoy Riga too. One of those was Riga Travel Guide (http://www.riga-guide.com - got us information on Riga's hidden gems - places that only young people go to, not touristic spots.

In fact it works as an Online Touristic Center, that in real time (yeah you will speak to a real person!) have given me all details about how to plan my Friday evening So in real time you can ask and have a chat with a real person and ask questions on the go. No idea how they are working (could be a signed deal with Latvian Travel Bureau), but it worked super well, they sorted us for the whole time of the trip. And we left to St.Petersburg with great love to Riga! Will come back again.
