Chamonix Is Best Known As A Winter Resort, However
Chamonix is best known as a winter resort, however, I've been twice in the summer and its a fantastic summer venue.
It's not too busy (but not also completely shut down and 'out of season') and has the most amazing scenary of any summer venue I've been to. You wake up, open the curtains and look up to see a massive ice sheet and snow covered mountain ranges - amazing - and its 30degrees too which is a bonus!
There are loads of things to do in the summer, from full on climbing of Monte Blanc, mountain biking, paragliding and more sedate walking/trekking.
The prices were pretty steep when we went (the Euro / £ exchange rate werent in our favour) and I think generally its a pretty pricey place.
However, for a most amazing, relaxing, centreing experience in the summer its hard to beat.
Highly recommend a week in Chamonix in the summer.
