Bergamo, Italy

Just returned from a skiing holiday in the Dolomites. Rented a Fiat Panda 4x4 which I booked through the global Hertz number. I specifically booked with them because I wanted Snow Tyres on the car. Unfortunately on the booking email it looked like additional local charges were payable. The Hertz Call Centre denied not telling me about these so I was trepidatious about how the rental would go.

Happily there were no extra charges and the local Hertz people could not be more helpful. The man who helped me took ages to explain all the local nuances - like the petrol stations being closed on a Saturday afternoon when we were due to drop the car back, as well as showing us where to fill up nearest the airport to avoid the 100 euro charge if the tank was not returned full.

He also gave us a bottle of liquid to stop the Diesel freezing in the snow and looked up the nearest petrol station to where we were going as diesel in the mountainside petrol stations already contains an additive to stop this occurring.

For only £53 for 4 days car hire we got a brand new car with snow tyres and only 15KM on the clock. I would not hesitate to recommend Hertz to anyone needing a car from Bergamo Orio al Serio.

Wow what a nice little city with so much to see and to do.I highly recommend Bergamo to anybody visiting Italy this summer.
