Membership
My Review is about Brittany Ferries booking system and membership.
We have traveled with them for many years many times.
The experience is always great, prices yes have gone up in food and tickets, the fact the Portsmouth ferries to Spain take forever has a bad impact on our holiday days. Not happy with that this year I’ll go via Plymouth but this takes 5 hour to get to the port. Before everything in general was much much better.
My main dislike with BFerries, My partner is a member and because every year I travel away before him or travel back after him with our children and with our car I can never use his full membership discount, because in one of our trips going or returning he won’t be with us. So I have to use the guest discount and this is supper frustrating and we have to buy separate tickets we are partners we have 3 children we are a “family”i should be able to use the membership, it’s not like it’s a cousin or the parent or a friend. This year we renewed our membership but we really thinking of not renewing anymore, and this is the main reason for this decision.
It’s a shame has been very much pleasant travelling with Brittany Ferries but paying a yearly fee and not being able to use it as a family it’s very unfair.

Bad Booking Service
I was sadly unable to book a cabin because I am a foot passenger, despite being recognised as disabled, they were aware of this at the time of booking because I requested assistance during the online booking procedure, when I rang customer services I was told it was a commercial decision, and that they have to favour car passengers,I have since rung customer services several times and written letters quoting the 2010 equalities act, but no reasonable adjustments have been made, I cannot change my crossing because too many arrangements concerning other people have now been made, it will be painful for me in a reclining chair. At the time of booking this was the only return crossing available, other dates were added later.

Excellent Crossing But Vegetarians Watch Out
Crossed from Santander to Portsmouth. Lovely clean boat and cabin which was very comfortable.
Food was high quality and decently priced and staff very pleasant.
However, the menu was the same in the restaurant for 2 nights running and there was only 1 vegetarian dish. I schism fish the following night but there was meat in the accompanying peas.
Tacos in the tapas bar was either beef or chicken.
It was obvious that vegetarians were not catered for. They could just get on with it. Disappointing and could easily be addressed.

Terrible Customer Service (land)
This relates to the reservations and land customer service and not onboard.
My second booking with Brittany Ferries and the second very inconvenient reschedulling.
I booked Rosslare to Cherbourg to arrive in daylight as I have a long onward car drive. When they reschedulled, the offer was a refund or another date if the new times did not suit. I found that they have a sailing from Cork the next day, which suited better, which actually cost €13 less, so I asked reservations to change it for me. They agreed, but would not price match, so despite the lower fare, they refused to refund me the €13 difference. If I cancelled the booking, I could get a full refund and book the Cork leg myself, saving the €13! It took 4 days before reservations cancelled the Rosslare leg, by which time, the Cork fare had increased by €40. After serveral emails and telephone calls, they eventually gave me the sailing at the original fare, but not the €13 refund. I asked for a free gesture such as some meal vouchers or a cabin upgrade to make up for the inconvenience and this was flatly refused.
So I wrote to Brittany's customer services for Ireland-France, and this is based in England! They have a 28 WORKING DAY response time, persumably due to a massive amount of complaints. Again, after a long wait, I received a partial response and a flat refusal of any gesture. While Brittany Ferries prices are good, I am very reluctant to trust them again as their land based customer service is terrible. Perhaps the ships and crew will be better.

Very Old Ferry Where The Wifi Don't Work Properly.
This ferry is very old. Air condition don't work properly in the cabin.
Wifi keep dropping all the time.
No TV in the cabin.
This has been the worst experience I have had in all the trips with brittany ferry.
The ferry is the Pont-Avon.
Like this I cannot recommend this ferry to anybody. Staff not very helpful on this trip.

Generally Good.
We have enjoyed using Brittany Ferries crossing from Portsmouth to Caen. Everything runs smoothly. There is plenty to do on board and the children can be kept busy for most of the crossing. Food is ok. We like to have a day cabin which works really well if you need to rest after an early start. Our boat was fine with good service from the staff. I recommend this crossing if you wish to have a shorter drive to Brittany.

Serious Safety Issues
Terrible we use Brittany ferries cap finstere last year crossing from portsmouth to santander. We were the first car on the mesanay floor with no safety nets up a 2 year old and 6 months pregnant. We were expected to walk on a foot wide piece of floor next to to car with no safety nets next to a 10ft plus drop. When asked for the safety nets to be put up we were greeted by rude annoyed staff how dare we ask attitude. The nets were not put up proper with 2ft gaps and sections missong . no one seemed to care. Once on board this didnt get better I was squirted by water whilst 2 bar staff were playing with the drinks dispenser a d they literally looked at the floor no apology and our cabin had no life jackets. When dealing with Brittany ferries reporting there serious safety breach no one seems to care again rude attitudes and a half hearted apology. Would never travel with them again

Great Ferry And Service - But Bring Your Sea Legs!
We took a return trip on the Plymouth to Roscoff route for our holiday in Brittany. It was very convenient for us living in Devon and avoided alot of motorway miles. Both journeys were onboard the fairly new Armorique ship which is a magnificent vessel. I cannot fault any aspect of Brittany ferries staff, facilities etc. It certainly is a class above other cross channel services I have used with good quality food, comfortable accomodation and plenty of things to do. The children's entertainment and activities laid on kept our young daughters occupied for a good portion of the 5 and a half hour trip. Whilst we had a very smooth and comfortable outward crossing, the one negative is that the return crossing was choppy to say the least. Our kids, like many, were very seasick and when it's 5 and a half hours that makes for a long journey. Apparantly this is not an unusual thing for this particular route which practically skims the Atlantic ocean. Of course, this is not the fault of Brittany ferries, but just be aware that this is perhaps not the best choice of route for thoses without decent sea legs. But if you travel well by sea it is totally recommended.
