We hired a minibus from discount car hire and it was delivered promptly and clean on arrival.All the terms were thoroughly explained and the delivery driver made the process less stressful.Special thanks to the reservation team when the booking was made and we received all invoices promptly as promised.I will be using discount car hire again on our next trip.

I was promised a few things, none of which the hirer honoured.

1. I was promised that the car would be delivered and collected from my home. The day before delivery, I received a call saying that there was a damage to the rental vehicle, and that I had to go down to the depot to collect it myself. A check with the depot proved no such damage existed. I tried to contact the hirer many times to arrange a collection time, but to no avail. I had to take a taxi to and fro the depot to collect and return the car.

2. I was promised that the taxi fares for going down to the depot would be reimbursed. As I was unable to contact them afterwards, it seems almost impossible to get my money back.

3. The vehicle I rented was supposed to be automatic transmission. I paid extra for the car but was told at the collection point that they only rent out manual cars. This was despite the fact that I emailed them and had a written confirmation beforehand.

I have written to BVRLA (British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association) for legal advice. I suggest whoever got problems with this company do likewise. We need to make sure that this company be investigated for any improper business conduct.

Do not use this company. I should have read the other reviews about them. I booked a car for five days. Delivery was supposed to be at 2pm this afternoon. They called at 10am to cancel the booking. Incredibly rude on the phone too.

Like previous reviewers, I paid a substantial deposit to reserve a rental car, which was cancelled by Discount car hire at the last minute. After a year I still haven't received my money back and it seems I will have to resort to legal action.

If you want to use them, and they ask for deposit, please consider carefully whether you want to hand your money to a dishonest company with an obvious bad track record illustrated below. Since they don't have a physical address, they are impossible to track down. Do not pay these people anything until you have received a car! Alternatively, go for reputable company that is concerned about protecting its reputation.

If you want to test them, call them and ask to speak to Barbara, who is the financial person from whom you will have to ask your money back. Good luck: 1 year and 100's of calls later I have still not been able to talk to her.

They claim to have a location in Harrow but they do not. The closest location is in Edgware. Whilst we received the initial automated email telling us to expect the confirmation soon, we never got that email. After calling them they said they emailed, but it turns out they'd incorrect transcribed the email address (so they obviously don't have a basic IT system that links orders to allow them to click and reply). Upon calling them they said they didn't have a branch in Harrow and the closest was in Edgware.

Absolutely useless.

NEVER USE THEM!!! I booked a 9 seater for holiday in July, 2010 ... Paid the full amount via bank transfer in April, 2010. Just one day before the car was to be delivered, got a call to say they will not provide us with the car anymore and was very rude. When asked about refund procedure, he said to mail in. i did right away and till date haven't received any refund of £ 400 back. I have spent so much calling them and only to be told that their account runs only on 15th of the month .. but never got any money back till date .. DO NOT EVER USE THEIR SERVICE..if there was a choice to select minus star I would have done that ..

Please take the previous reviews seriously. I didn't, and regretted it. I also booked a minibus several months in advance, and paid a deposit. I even called several times before the trip to confirm that everything was still OK. However, on the week before our holiday, Discount cancelled the car without even telling us. We just found out about it because we phoned them again to confirm a delivery time. After 6 weeks and several phone calls, I still don't have my deposit back. If we want peace of mind, go somewhere else.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I was quoted a price, and promised a delivery time. They are very polite and efficient until they get your deposit money. The minibus did not arrive at the time arranged, I had 14 young people waiting to go on holiday. The person at the end of the phone was rude and I would say even abusive, at one point telling me that they were going to cancel my booking, and slamming the phone down on me. Only after much pestering was a minibus delivered by a different company - 2.5 hours late! We missed the opening event of our festival.

On returning I noticed that my credit card had been billed by the company who supplied the minibus, making the amount paid over £100 more than originally agreed. I am still waiting for a refund.

This company act as agents, take a large deposit by BACS or internet banking straight out of your bank account, then pass on your credit card details to another company.

DO NOT USE!!

After paying a £200 deposit a month in advance, this joker effectively cancelled our order the day before our trip (which was a charity event at which we raised over £12,000 for CARE International).

We were promised a full refund but it took over 9 weeks of hassling him to be refunded, and only after the threat of legal action.
