I e-mailed Sterling Car hire in Malaga to ask if a Opel Zafira was available between 25/08/2011 - 9/08/2011. At first i received a response within 24 hours telling me politely that the vehicle was available and asking me if i could complete the booking form "Online". I clicked on the car in question and was filled in the booking form. I was promised a response within 24 hours but after 2 days had not received anything. Growing concerned i e-mailed Sterling Car Hire in Malag and was later relied stating that everything was ok and i should deposit the necesszary funds in their bank account within 6 weeks. No problems so far. Thought everything was great and their were no problems, then a month later i was sorting out paying them and, bearing in mind i had communicated them countlessly by e-mail stating i wanted a Vauxhall Zafira, and stated this on the booking form; i re-checked the form and the example vehicle (pretty picture) was showing 5 seats. I emailed Sterling Car Rental Malaga and they stated that my booking was for a 6 seater vehicle not a 7. I then merely pointed out that according to Vauxhall/Opel/GM group, they have never made a "6 seater Zafira" and that this car hire company did not know what they were talking about. Now, bearing in mind i had requested and stated all along that i wanted a Opel Zafira (We have the same car in UK and when we went to Tenerife last summer we got one from Canary island renta-car and it was the same as ours - this way we could pre-plan what would and wouldnt fit in it). Sterling Car Hire came back to me and said that their Zafira was only 6 seats. They then said their one had 6 seats and asked me to decide if i still wanted it as they had customers waiting. I pressed them further stating what Vauxhall UK had said about the vehicle, dealing with an indivdual the whole time called Eric Rohling from Sterling Car Hire Malaga. Obviously, instead of offering an explanation i received a new booking form for a seven seater vehicle (we have 6 in our family) with a new price of an additional 300 Euros. I then replied by e-mail saying i never wanted to cancel my zafira booking, but was merely questioning why are they stating it as 6 Pax (6 seater) when all other proffesional car hire compnies state it as having 6/7 seats. The reply i got back was gobsmacking, they stated that the Zafira was no longer available and that i would now have to re-book for the 7 seater (a month later and you know how prices change). This made me furious and i told them i was going to report them to the spanish auithorities whom deal with their license. They then sent my complaint to their legal department to which they mounted a strong defence. I sent them the copies of my e-mails to Eric staitng i had never said "cancel the zafira" nor did i say i wanted to replace it with a 7 seater. Also these e-mails the whole time carried the subject Opel Zafira. They have come back to me now stating they could have removed the seat if it was broken etc. But as it stands now i have lost my "confirmed Booking" for a Opel Zafira with them all beacause i questioned them on how many seats it had and Eric took exception to this and cancelled my booking without my permission and gave it to another customer.
