This airport has got progressively worse over the years to the point where I now fly out of Newcastle (even though I live in Middlesbrough.
My last experience was the final straw. Our two suitcases were of unequal weights (and size) but notwithstanding this staff made us repack them in the queue so one was half empty and one bursting, even though they were on the same ticket. Ryan air do point out you cannot "pool luggage" but no other airport does this to the kilogram except Teesside. This is also the only airport that would not allow us to carry our baby's change bag on board, as "babies do not have a hand luggage allowance". A case of "computer says no".
Our check in took 40 minutes (followed by another hour queuing to get through security) - all this with a screaming baby.
Never again. I'd sooner drive (from Dublin) than endure that again

I would say Teesside Airport is OK. I would not recommend it because there are better airports. Security and all of those things are fast but there is not a good variety of shops and eating facilities.
