Perfect

Cant believe people are giving negative reviews because of lack of shops/and tobbacco?

Its a small friendly airport.

Objective!! to get to your destination as quickly as possible, who wants to spend time at a airport?

They must be going to some very boring places.

In and out then move on, this airport is perfect for fast transfers

Marvellous Murcia Airport - Small , Friendly , Fast Track !

I have used Murcia three times this year , fourth visit coming up next week.

Hate airports in general , but Murcia has given me hope and restored my will to live in these situations !

Park the hire car 50m from Terminal( careful who you hire from !) , only 5 or maybe 6 Gates , never seen more than three flights going at once.

Usually walk straight through to flight side in 5 minutes - OK last month

( July) was busier , maybe 25 minutes.

If you want to "shop" airport expect the usual ! DON'T !

Easyjet have been excellent - delayed at Easter (three days )thanks to French ATC strike Hotel provided - very good !

Then of course you have the joys of Gatwick to look forward to ---- an hours torture to get through to our green and sometimes pleasant land.

Good luck. Viva Espana.

I have found LaManga Car Hire excellent for various reasons.

They have a mobile office in Car Park - 50m from Terminal , so you don't get involved with the rush at the car Hire desks in airport.

They don't have any hidden charges - what you see is what you get.

Check comments on this site for Murcia San Javier car hire - be warned !

Good luck , enjoy Murcia.

Intrigued by your comment "careful who you hire from" as we are looking through all companies for car hire for next month and quite frankly its a minefield, no simple solutions at all. would you have recommendations ?

thanks

It Must Be The First Airport I've Encountered That

It must be the first airport I've encountered that didn't have any cigarettes or tobacco products on sale.It was a real disappointment for my son who had been waiting until we were leaving Spain to stock up.Wouldn't like to spend any more time here than was absolutely necessary.

After A Week In Murcia, We Flew Out Of The Area Vi

After a week in Murcia, we flew out of the area via Murcia San Javier airport. I'd done my homework on this airport, and knew that eating facilities were quite limited, and the airport itself wasn't the largest in Spain by any measure. So, after a long check-in, with staff walking off and swapping round every few minutes we finally found out way to the only restaurant we could find - a boring-looking one which reminded me of an upmarket greasy spoon. The security gate was significant for it's lack of siblings, so we queued for about 15 to 20 minutes while trying to remove metal objects that would set off detectors.Once airside, I took the opportunity to get some duty-free booze for a friend, then we queued up. Without any instructions, passengers had sorted themselves into two perfect, orderly lines, one for express and the other standard. Despite this, a member of the ground staff came to ask us to queue in the opposite direction!. So, two perfect queues became one great big mess. And, inevitably, as the order of passengers had gone out the window, there were the expected "I was here before them, I'm going in front of them" mutterings from all points of the compass, plus the pushing and shoving you only expect in the playground or at a McDonalds restaurant.Suffice it to say I made it onto the plane without getting involved in the pushing - I just waited for most passengers to get very involved in their moans, then slipped past them silently!I suppose that Murcia isn't as well established an airport as most others. Maybe with the Murcia region being as popular as it is with british ex-pats, Murcia Airport will expand and improve over the coming years.
