Arrived At Karachi's Jinnah International Airport
Arrived at Karachi's Jinnah International Airport after several years absence on a long flight from the US dreading the experience and prepared to retrieve my long dormant skills of aggression, pushiness, and pulling rank that i had learned when i lived there years ago. Pleasantly surprised overall - maybe because I was traveling in C class, when i left the plane, it wasn't total madness and getting through immigration was a breeze. My checked bags, modest in size and number (just 1) compared to other passengers made me an easy shoe-out by the customs guy and through the machine. Since this was right before Eid, I had expected arrivals to be hellish and was pleasantly surprised that they were not.
Departure was a little more challenging until I got to the C class check-in line at which point I was escorted through the process till the lounge (I was told I should have presented my C class ticket outside and an escort would have helped me through the initial entry and pre-departure customs).
For all its reputation, KHI is not a bad airport - I've travelled much in Europe, Africa, the US and parts of Asia and i can think of several airports that have much worse systems.
