After I booked and paid for a taxi with them I came across these reviews and got a little paranoid as I needed a driver to be there on time for us- we had to catch a connecting flight from Heathrow airport. On the day however I was genuinely surprised with the level of service and assistance provided by driver called Slavick. We paid for our taxi in advance as we were only 'in transit' via Gatwick and Heathrow airport and did not want to exchange our money. He called me on my Spanish cell and met us by the 'costa coffee' in arrivals hall. Car was ok, he drove safely and and it was a really pleasant journey. I told him about those reviews and he admitted that he had some problems with other taxi companies he subcontract some work to during summer months when he is as he put it 'out of town', but he also said that he has got a majority of happy passengeers who never write comments online. I've placed bookings with this company twice. It's an ordeal, as after making the booking online they first e-mail to say that the booking's received but not yet accepted, and then within a day or two e-mail again to accept the booking and ask for a reply as final confirmation. Not exactly streamlined.

The first time I booked with this company the driver was late, but the journey was fine and the prices were good. I considered them a reasonable choice for next time rather than spending time looking for and risking another firm.

The second - and final - time, things were different. As before, I went through the same rigamarole to place the booking, wait for acceptance and confirm acceptance. Slavek ([email protected]) thanked me for confirming, so job done; I could enjoy my holiday.

When we returned, the driver was nowhere to be found. We called, there was no answer. Perhaps he was late again - annoying, but we waited. We waited an hour and a half, by which time I'd called all the numbers I had or could find on their website from my phone. I had sent texts and e-mails. It was now 08:30 on a Thursday - not an unreasonable time to expect to be able to get hold of *somebody* at a taxi booking company.

We ended up paying through the nose at the taxi desk in the airport instead. Two weeks later, and I've still not had any reply to the e-mail or texts.

I get the impression this is a one-man operation. I'll always support smaller companies if they put the effort in, but this one doesn't - I wish I'd thought to check reviews first. Perhaps the guy took a different booking instead. Did he simply forget? Maybe he went out the night before and decided to sleep it off.

Stay away from this company, I ordered for early morning and never turned up! And of course no answer on the phone

The taxi never showed up!! and they didn't pick up the phones either. I had to find another way to go to the airport at 6am. terrible experience

Landed at Gatwick Airport . Driver was there waiting for me shirt and tie and a nice chap. Booked this cab on line at www.minicab.me and paid for it on my master card in us dolars. The vehicle was clean and modern and i felt i got good value for money, next time i fly into a london airport i will book my cab on line and pay for it with my cc it was really easy and after a long flight i found the service refreshing i would recomend this service it was so easy !!!
