SkyWest Airlines

I have the misfortune of living in Palm Springs where they maintain their creaking fleet of airplanes. These planes are a constant source of delays and cancelations due to "circumstances beyond our control" even though the planes have been there all night in the hangars.

The airline also constantly misinforms passengers- it will be 5 minutes, it will be 15 minutes- then 2 hours later they cancel after stringing you along. Perhaps half of the flights I am forced to take with this airline have departure problems.

Because these planes are small they also are prone to cancelation when they aren't full- I can usually predict their cancelations on Sundays when there are a handful of passengers.

Very nice Flight Attendants. Not old and crabby like all the other airlines, but very nice! They were both very nice during the flight and offered drinks at various times. My grandfather flying with me had trouble getting to the airplane and without asking the flight attendant made sure one was waiting for us in Huntsville. They even made sure that we sat together.

United Airlines/Skywest: We flew from Tucson to San Francisco and back on what was booked as a "non-stop" flight on United Airlines. It was not United, but Skywest Airlines, a regional airline of inferior quality. It was the worst flight I've ever experienced. Although we reserved and paid for the flight months in advance, it was canceled when we arrived at the airport. We were told to wait for the next flight available, which turned out to be a flight to Denver with a connection to San Fran. We waited and we waited. In addition to the humiliation of the security search, we were herded like cattle onto the plane and our cramped, hard seats. We waited for another half hour, at least, on the tarmac before take-off. When we arrived in Denver, we had to get off the plane, walk to the opposite side of the airport to get another Skywest flight, which was late (perhaps just as well). The flight-time to SF was six (6) hours instead of two. No apologies or compensation was offered. So, we lost a half day of planning in SF. If we include the commute time to the airport and to hotel, it was nine hours one way! We could have driven our own car in less time, and we could have had our own car in SF (we ended up renting one). It would have been cheaper, including no airport parking fee, no car rental, and no airline ticket fees. Additionally, we would not have been treated like criminals and cattle. So, I would recommend driving or a train over an airline unless there is no other reasonable way to travel. If you take your time, you can enjoy the countryside scenery and local color.

The trip home was little better, since it wasn't canceled - Do I need to thank a deity?! The flight was very late, of course, and the landing felt like we were crashing. Instead of arriving at 10 pm as scheduled, we arrived at 1:30 am. By the time we got home, it was 2:30 am, and we felt sick. The pilots on these small regional airlines, like Skywest, are underpayed, overworked, under-trained, and are constantly tired. So, the airline's cheapness provides more probability of failure. Need I say more? Had a great time in SF, no thanks to United/Skywest.

This is the worst ariline i have ever dealt with in my life. I would Drive 800 miles before even taking a free flight from such a poorly run airline. I got on my flight with a drink from the bar outside of the gate. I was not told i could not have it on the flight when i sat down a flight attendant came up took my drink out of my hand where she put her nose in it and then told me to get off the flight no warning Nothing! I missed an engagement party becuase of this and then my flight was cancelled on the way back and i had to put myslef up in a hotel. there is much more to the story but i was kicked off for bringing a plastic drink from the bar when they serve alcohol on the flight!!

Never again will i fly on SkyWest Airlines

SkyWest Airlines fly rig and mine workers to the north and changed flight. We were notified that we would fly from Exmouth at 6.30 and the flight left at 3.15

As stated we never received an electronic confirmation had to rely on telephone only.
