Worst Airline Ever!
My worst flight experience ever. We left manchester two hours before we arrived in iceland and found out our flight was cancelled. when we left manchester everything was fine. that was after they had cancelled our flight from seattle to iceland a day before we left. all the employees were very rude and refused to help us even a little. the airport is horrible and so is the country its full of swamps. if you fly on iceland air you will want to commit suicide. Iceland Express - Never Again!
I cannot say what I thought about the flight because it didn't happen. There are limited choices from UK to Iceland so to get the days and times I wanted I booked WOW Airlines on the way out and Icelend Express on the way home.
Iceland Express cancelled my return flight 15 days in advance, one day before they would have become liable for any compensation. They offered me an alternative flight home at an inconvenient time and to a different UK airport (my car would have been at the departure airport).
When I rang, they said they had cancelled because they had not sold enough tickets on the flight I originally booked! I thought that was incredible -and research tells me this seems to be standard practice for Iceland Express. So I asked would they book me on another airline which is flying to the right airpoort - NO. Would they pay for me to get back to the original UK airport to get my car - NO. What would they do then? They would either book me on the flight they were offering (to the wrong airport) or refund my fare.
So I cancelled and paid about double the fare (it wouldn't have been double if I had booked them originally) to get another flight back to the right Airport with WOW Air. WOW Air were brilliant by the way - on time, helpful and courteous.
So remember - you take the risk with Iceland Express - not the airline. If they don't sell enough tickets to make it worthwhile for them, they just cancel the flight - nice!

Very Good Value
My parents flew with this airline, and they actually didn't mind the lack of \"luxuries\". Actually, my dad claims to have been able to lie across 3 seats and sleep the entire flight! No one bothered him to ask which meal he needed, since none were provided. This was Copenhagen-Boston, round trip. Besides some minor delays, there was nothing at all wrong with flying with them. Remember, if you cut costs, you can't expect things to run 100% perfectly. Hopefully there is no hit upon safety, I think federal regulations prevent that. Very Ok For A Low-cost
After reading the reviews on this site and others, I was frightened to death about my upcoming flight on Iceland Express and was preparing for the flight from hell.
I figured out places to stay in advance in case the flight was delayed, pack up a survival kit of dried food, empty bottles (to be filled with water after security at the airport), extra computer batteries, and even an old-school MP3 player packed with audiobooks to kill time in case I had a major delay. I even brought an extra polar fleece in case the cabin heater didn't work properly.
In the end, none of this was necessary and the flight experience, though not on the level of a brand-name carrier such as Lufthansa or Air France, was on par with other "good" low-cost airlines such as easyJet and Air Berlin. Sure, you have to either buy your food or bring it, same for entertainment, but which low-cost doesn't do that? If you've ever flown easyJet, this should be comparable.
The punctuality issue that many reviewers bring up can probably be solved by a simple explanation: as far as I understand, they wait for all the planes from all destinations to arrive in Iceland before leaving again, so that no one misses their connections. Because of that, their planes are almost always delayed by 1-3 hours, but it also means that you don't have to worry at all about your connection in Iceland no matter how late your plane arrives there, since they'll wait for you. If you keep that in mind and leave the three hours following your planned arrival free, you'll enjoy a flight that's even more worry-free than on other airlines where you can be left stranded.
The final point, and probably their strongest one, is the price. They are the first to open up the transatlantic low-cost market. Given how long (more than a decade) people have been begging Ryanair and easyJet to start flying to North America without success, I think we should all be glad that one airline has taken the plunge.
In the spring and fall, Iceland Express is offering Europe-USA flights for 30 Euros + taxes and fees = 160 Euros each way without any restrictions as to length of stay, return dates, etc. This is truly a first, and hopefully will lead to more low-cost airlines expanding their network to North America. Maybe one day we'll finally see those Ryanair 10 pound New York flights that Michael O'Leary has been teasing us with for so long and we'll be able to compare the service on two trans-atlantic low-cost airlines and see which one is best (or least bad), but for now, Iceland Express it is!

Possibly The Worst Experience Ever - Iceland Express
This was a disaster from top to bottom. Let me break it down to you.
Me and my friend booked a trip from Gothenburg - New York, with a change of flights on Iceland. So far so good, but from here on now, it´s all downhill:
1. The flight out from Gothenburg was 2 hours delayed. We also made a small detour to Oslo to pick up more passengers (not planned). That left us even more delayed due to the fact that it took 1½ hour to board all the new people. We even asked before we boarded the flight in Gothenburg if we would make the connection on Iceland and someone answered "maybe". We also got the information that NO flight in the last 3 weeks had left on time from Gothenburg.
2. An hour before we landed on Iceland we asked if we would make the flight to New York, and got the answer "yes, we think so". So when we landed, along with around 50 more people, the connecting flight was gone. We then got on a bus to a bad hotel and 24 hours later we were supposed to get the flight to New York.
3. That flight was delayed as well, with a couple of hours. And may I add that we weren´t offered any complimentary drinks or food on the plane what so ever. And when we asked any of the staff members no one could give any answers... The only they could give us was: "Call this number or email us"
4. Anyway, finally in New York, a couple of hours late, the luggage arrived and everything worked pretty smooth.
5. The trip home then. When we check in they place me and my friend far away from each other. BUT they can fix that if we pay an extra 35 dollars. (how sweet of them). Also may I add that the flight was delayed 2½ hours out from New York. Once on the plane it is sooo warm and no working A/C. Five hours of sauna basically.
6. Our connection to Gothenburg from Iceland waits for us (Halleluja) but we are rushed to that flight, and that flight is ice cold and with around 4 blankets to share among around 150 passengers. That flight landed a good hour late of course. And to sum it all up Iceland Express has lost our luggage.
So basically Iceland Express messed up each and every step of our trip in the most horrific way I have ever experienced. And also NO ONE seems to know anything. The ground staff has no idea whats happening and can not help you with anything.
So I can not under any circumstance recommend this joke of an airline. If this is your last choice and is prepared for delays and other bad things, book it... Otherwise, spend money on someone else...

Stay Away From This Airline!!!!!
Iceland express airlines can destroy your vacation plan, then cancel flights any time they want with no reason, flight schedule does not exist, no communication, better track you flights every day or you end up waiting weeks at the airport for the next flight. Never again!!!!!!

So Very Disappointed In Iceland Express! They Do A
So very disappointed in Iceland Express! They do a terrible job with their service. I tried to fly from Newark to London for Christmas, but the flight was delayed. Before I left for the airport, I called Iceland Express to find out if the flight was on time and was told, yes it was. When I arrived at the airport I learned that the flight was delayed due to "mechanical difficulties" but was not told for how long. As the hours stretched on, I wondered if the flight would depart at all. Rather than be stranded at the airport for half the night, I opted to go home. I was promised a refund since the flight was delayed more than 5 hours. I sent them FOUR emails before they sent my refund and it took about a month! It turned out the flight was delayed for 7 hours as I learned after I went home. When I called to complain about the lack of communication, the person on the phone LIED and said I was sent a text message about the delay. None of the other passengers at the airport I met had received one, nor did I. Their poor record speaks for itself. I would not recommend this airline to anyone who wants to get to their destination on time.

Discover The World Has Been Operating Holidays To
Discover the World has been operating holidays to Iceland for over 26 years and is the world's largest tour operator to the country. However in view of continuing difficulties we have now completely stopped selling Iceland Express flights to our passengers.
Between January and August 2010 over half the inclusive tour passengers booked by us on Iceland Express services experienced cancellation of either their outbound or return flights, or schedule changes. In addition an indeterminate, but nevertheless significant number, experienced serious delays. This resulted in an enormous number of complaints and as a result, Discover the World has now ceased to sell Iceland Express flights to individual passengers. Instead, we will now only work with Icelandair, with whom we have a very good working relationship and have no such issues.

Absolutelly Terrible Customer Service. We Were 45
Absolutelly terrible Customer service. We were 45 minutes late leaving Winnipeg, and 1 hour 45 minutes late leaving Iceland; thus we have missed connecting flights to Europe. They have also lost our baggage,; we did get it 10 days later with some of it missing. THIS TRIP WAS OUR HONEYMOON!!!!!!!. To this day we have not heard back from customer service about refunds. MY ADVICE: Stay AWAY from Iceland Express.

Iceland Express Cancelled Our Return Flight Withou
Iceland Express cancelled our return flight without notice until we had arrived at the airport and told us the next available flight was 3 days later. Had to book a flight with Iceland Air instead which was expensive and have received no compensation or reply to requests to Iceland Express for a refund of the cancelled flight (which they legally have to do as they say they abide by EU regulations).
Our original flight to Iceland with Iceland Express was on a plane which looked like a piece of junk, had Ghana Airways written across it and smelt terrible. Would never fly with them again.
