Reviews Are A Great Way To Find Out About A Produc

Reviews are a great way to find out about a product - but you do have to read between the lines. This was our first cruise and we don't particularly like "packaged tours" where everyone is herded about. We were prepared for the worst having read some of the negative reviews but decided to book as the positives did outweigh them. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The ship is tired, with staining to the white silicon sealant in the bathroom for example. (That can happen fairly quickly.) The windows were dirty, (one night at sea and they can be splashed with salt spray - what do people expect?) It was rough one night, a force 8 gale and stabilisers can only do so much... (but it was predicted and my wife who doesn't travel well took sea sick tablets and slept through it. I didn't and had a restless night due to the rocking and rolling and wave slap/shudder - cruising the Atlantic in January you must expect that.) Other complaints I have seen were "plastic plates" (yes, they are safer and were fine.) "Cold food" (it didn't happen to us, but if it did we would leave it and get something else... The food was good, a good range for breakfast, good British grub plus salads etc for lunch. Evening meals in the Island Restaurant were relatively civilised and varied. We had Mexican, Italian and Indian nights, plus the normal fare. We felt no need to book the expensive Oasis restaurant.) "Couldn't get in the theatre cos it was full", (we got in every time, but if you leave it to 5 minutes before it will be full so get there earlier... There are also other options such as shows in the Bounty lounge, or on the Pool deck.) On our day at sea it was a bit like "Blackpool beach" with row upon row of sun loungers so we had to shut our eyes to that, but with a bit of planning you can find a place without too many people... So in summary, we thought the food was good, the staff extremely friendly and helpful, the entertainment - whilst not what we would normally pay to see was "entertaining". The pleasure of watching our boat leave harbour at sunset and watching it come in to a new island in the morning was great. We didn't do any coach excursions apart from the submarine trip, which whilst expensive was an amazing experience diving to about 100foot, (26M). Instead we hired (after negotiating a good price) a taxi to take us on the same trips. Much better, we could stop and start when we wanted, didn't have to walk about with a crowd, didn't have to risk getting coach sick and it was cheaper for 4 people. (break even if it were 3) Be careful in Morocco, some might like to stick with an organised tour here - ask about. Running out of space so will stop there - I loved it and would do it again - wife didn't like the movement of the ship, although was not sick and didn't like the "crowds" but I might be able to persuade her to go again....
