Scotts Could Be Better

Read a review about Scotts farm was interesting, I have been going to Scotts farm for three years over the summer holidays. I find it a good place for the children as it is a family site. Alas not all its customers feel the same about families and children. The first year we stayed there, we camped behind two Caravans at the end of a row. My children were well behaved we made a little noise as possible, but the two caravans on the other side of the fence were very hostile towards us. I soon found out that we were not welcome on the pitch, remarks to my children, looks that could kill. In the end we felt so uncomfortable we moved to another pitch. We thought it must have been us, did we do something wrong, but over the summer we seen many other families being treated the same way. The two men both called John were rude to children in the toilets even though they were doing nothing wrong.

The next year, I was not sure if to stay there, but decided to go and not camp near them. Talking to others we were told the two Johns had acted that way towards child and families for years. We were told that one had

been band from a local club for touching women, many had complained. We could not find a family that had a good word to say about them.

This year they put plant pots on the grass, but this only made them more aggressive toward families with children. On the Bank holiday they parked their cars so no other persons could put up a tent. That evening I went to one of the village pubic houses and they were both in there. The older one who must be at least 65 spent all night trying to him on young girls, his language made my skin crawl, most people in the pub looked very uncomfortable. This made me uncomfortable about my children on the camp site.

Scotts is a very nice site and apart from those two, very friendly people, but I do wonder how many people do not return because of these two caravan owners. In time they will poison the site acting as if they own it and can do what they want. Make it family friendly

Perfect Weekend By The Sea.

My husband, our dogs and I enjoyed a very relaxing stay at this camp site last weekend. On arrival we were lead to reception and were greeted at reception by very friendly members of staff. We took our caravan and pitched up. It didn't take long for us to be all sorted out and we wanted to have a look around the local area. We visited Chichester and Arundel castle and lake which were great days out - beautiful parts of Sussex. We returned to the camp site and it seemed busier than before which was fine as we had a perfect spot in relation to the toilets and dog walking field. Later on in the evening a member of staff came round to check tickets and continued the politeness that we had experienced earlier.

Before we went to sleep each night we walked the 2 dogs around the dog walking field which was perfect as it was big enough for them to be let loose and wear themselves out for the day. It was very clean and everybody in there seemed to be cleaning up after their dogs which is very refreshing after what I usually see in the local park where we live.

As early risers we were probably first in the showers, which were cleaner than any restaurant I've ever been to let alone another camp site! We took leisurely walks along the local beach and returned back to the camp site in the evening. Throughout our stay at Scotts Farm camping Site our expectations were continually exceeded.

Although we do not have children of a young age or any grandchildren... yet! We would expect that children of all ages under 10 would have a wail of a time in the play area, it always seemed to be busy and parents were always around so that nothing would get out of hand.

A lovely weekend away and we will definitely be returning next year if not sooner!

Highly Recommended - 1st Time Camping With Friends

Had a brilliant 1st time ever camping break with 2 other families. The campsite was very clean, toilets and showers get washed several times each day. Kids loved the play area. Scott's Farm is perfectly located for the beach, shops and restaurants.

Would definately go to Scott's Farm again.

Fantastic Getaway!

I stayed at Scotts Farm with my husband and two other families. We have been visiting the site for over 10 years and not once have we not had an enjoyable experience. This was the first time we came with our kids as they are old enough to experience the amazing sandy play area. We were lucky that when you arrive they don't allocate pitches and you can go wherever you want on their site. That meant that we went to a nice flat field next to the play area in the corner together. Every night we had a little fire going and we pitched up in a circle of tents. All three families had small children which was great because they could play together and go on the slides. Throughout our stay we all felt very secure with the safety of the site and the response of the staff. One of the families car battery went flat and when I went to the reception the man was at my car before I had time to walk back! Everyone was really friendly and the weather was great. We could walk to the village which had a variety of shops in and to the beach. There is a great family pub called the Thatched Tavern which is a 15 minute walk through a footpath which was brilliant for the families.

The only thing that has changed this year is that we weren't allowed our gazebo to be set up which was a shame. The reason for this was that one caught fire last year and for the safety of the campers the owners decided to implement this rule. The reason why I am writing this review now is that I'm tired of seeing bad reviews for the site and decided to speak up! Scotts Farm doesn't allow large groups of even families and I find this totally understandable because when we put the children to bed everywhere was quiet and peaceful and that's exactly what I am looking for when I go camping with the kids. The general cleanliness of the site is superb especially the toilets and showers. If you want a peaceful getaway from ordinary life then I would highly recommend Scotts farm as it's got every aspect you need for relaxation!

A Good Experience!

I visited Scotts Farm at the beginning of May with my wife and two children for 2 nights. I had a very pleasant stay and was impressed by the cleanliness of the site. The toilets and showers are cleaned 2-3 times a day and I regularly saw stewards walking around collecting rubbish. They have allocated a dog walking field and a play area so my wife and kids were very happy. When I entered the reception it seemed like the staff there were very friendly and they carried through this when checking tickets and generally asking how their customers were. I was particularly impressed when one of my sons had an accident in the play area and therefore got a bruise on his knee and a small cut. The staff brought a first aid box within minutes and treated him along with a sweet to make him feel better. I think the main point however is how quiet the camp site was for the amount of people. I believe that the strictness of the "no groups" policy creates a friendly and warming atmosphere around the site. I don't understand why there are bad reviews for this site because I had a very enjoyable experience and I will definitely return next year!

Stay Away!

I'm sorry to say that my planned camping trip to Scotts Farm did not go as intended. I arrived with my wife and teenage son with his friend only to be told that my son and his friend would not be welcome because they do not accept groups of teenagers! After questioning the gentleman on his decision he started to get abusive, and whilst he remembered me from previous visits there was no way that he was going to let me stay. The whole experience was humiliating and very upsetting for my whole family. I am a 46 year old man and I have never been turned away from anywhere in my life!

We then found another campsite and met up with a number of people who had also been treated in the same way, either this year or previously. One couple turned up and paid and then bumped into some people they new from a previous visit and were promptly thrown off the site without any refund.

In short, if you are single, without children and have no friends, then you would probably be welcome, anything other than that, be prepared to be shouted at, sworn at and turned away.

-------stay Away----- Looking At The Positive

-------Stay Away-----

Looking at the positive reviews here one can only assume they have been written by the owner!! BUT after meeting him at the weekend I'm not sure he's capable of writing his own name let alone stringing a written sentence together!!! He clearly lacks the skills to communicate with people.

I'm really surprised anyone really goes back there after experiencing the rudeness of the owner and the lardy South African. (Who never changes his clothes as he wore the same thing for 4 days---Grey combats and red T shirt)

I totally understand that they don't want large groups of lads and girls there but when the group consists of mainly children under 5 and 5 families I really don't get why they won't let you stay. There's no excuse for rudeness.

Its a very strange site and one that my family and friends won't be visiting again. I can only assume that the reason the site is monitored by so many cameras is that the owner is worried about taking a beating from someone he has verbally abused.

I Have Been Going To Scotts Farm For 12 Years, Ove

I have been going to Scotts Farm for 12 years, Over the Years I have seen People Abusing their stay, Book in a Caravan only then put up a tent or two so they take the space of three pitches and only pay for one. Some people do not think of other and will sit and drink till 3 in the morning, keeping Children and Adults awake. The toilets are cleaned three times a day to a good standard. If they are in a mess it is because parents let their children throw water around the toilet block,If a toilet has been used and not flushed, the fault must fall on the parents of the children that do not know better. There are rules, because of things that have happened in the past. On the pitch I use there is a tap for water,Electric hook up,Plus a output for the sewer.

There 1000s that use Scotts and are very happy,a site safe for children, you can have a good nights sleep, without being kept awake by people who have had to much to drink. In 12 years the staff have never been rude, as for dog mess all over the place.I have never seen it,there is a field to walk dogs. I can say people who stay all summer clean up after their dogs.

Dogs are not allowed to roam around and must be on a lead if they are bring walked through the site. If you go camping or have a caravan, it is not like staying in a hotel, or at home. To have your own water tap, Electric point, and sewer outlet your children safe at all times,a short walk to the Village or beach, then come back and find you have not been robbed while out. Because the staff have looked at the persons they would like on their site. Scotts a good trouble free site safe for every body who stay there

We Had Not Visited For A Few Years And When We Wen

We had not visited for a few years and when we went back this summer had a great time. I understand comments about the Manager's 'no-nonsense' approach but as a family we liked this as some sites do get 'loutish'. Also think it is excellent value as you can stay until 5pm -most sites chuck you off at 10.00 or you have to pay extra.

Although The Location Of Scotts Farm, West Witteri

Although the location of Scotts Farm, West Wittering is great for walking into the village, the site management are rude and treat their customers with no respect. The price is too much for a basic site and they actually try to find reasons to turn people away as they arrive despite them having room and the people they are turning away cause no trouble. If anyone does wish to go and they ask if you are meeting anyone else, if you are going to camp alongside friends or family, lie and say no as they will turn you away if you are honest despite you having taken the time off work for your annual holiday to spend your money with them. If you can escape speaking to any members of staff longer than booking in, if they let you get that far, you can expect a pleasant stay thanks to the location alone. I have been going here since I was a child and have tried to persevere because I enjoy the position of the site. As we are a quiet couple we shouldn't have encountered any trouble but we have seen and heard the staff speak to campers in the most awful way and being turned away from our annual holiday with nowhere to go after travelling a long way while pregnant was the final straw. We will not be going back until it changes hands and as they are so rich from the site that they can afford to speak to people the way they do and turn them away, looks like my Wittering holidays are a thing of the past.
