Dirty Caravan And Full Of Workmen Staying At The Park
Saved up all year, for me and my family to go to Rookley Park. When we arrived the caravan was dirty. The bathroom was mouldy and dirt in the shower room. The caravan smelt mouldy and there was snot wiped on the walls of the caravan. Not only this, we thought we would go to the main lounge to find the lounge full of workmen and women staying at the Park. When we complained that we did not want to spend our holiday with workmen who were in the bar everynight with their uniforms on, they said it was tough they were here for the festival. The staff were extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. Could not wait to get home. It did not feel like a holiday at all. When complained about the dirty caravan and the workmen, they said we were not entitled to any compensation. Will never go back to this place again!

Wouldn't Go Back
We have been to Rookley for 6 years and have always been entirely satisfied. However this year in June 2011 we paid £25 for early check in which never happened. We paid for a lakeside bungalow, but bungalow No 1 had a brick generator in front of the bungalow, so we could not see the lake at all. We felt shut in. We paid £50 per week extra for this bungalow too. Entertainment was rubbish, the same duo 4 nights a week, plus lots of karaoke. On one Sunday there was no entertainment at all. There were also 2 private functions on both Saturdays which stops guests going into the Midnight Bar.
We complained but staff had a couldn't care less attitude. On return home we wrote a letter of complaint. The only thing we are getting back is the £25 for the early check in. But they are not returning the £50 per week for the lakeside bungalow. Apparently Max, the entertainment manager, has now left and Noddy is back, thank goodess.
However we will never go back there.

Never Again. I Would Not Recommend This Place To Anyone.
We paid nearly £600:00 to stay here in June. DO NOT BELIEVE THE GLOSSY BROCHURE! The accommodation was ok but not too clean. Curtains hanging off, black dust in places, cobwebs and staining around floor of toilet. On arrival we really needed a cup of tea but then discovered electricity was extra unless you booked with Hoseasons. First electricity card did not work - asked for maintainence still waiting one month later. Children's entertainment was ok but repetitive. The timing of this was moved about and on one night did not start until 21:10 too late for most children. On Friday night we had 300 athletes arrive all entertainment was curtailed for other guests whilst these registered. We gave up at 21:30 and went back to the van. We feel we paid for services that were not provided or were moved about at the will of the manager, they cover themselves in the small print so beware! CUSTOMER SERVICE? None!!!

Rude Staff, Partically The Manger/owner Extremly R
Rude Staff, partically the manger/owner extremly rude and insulting to my 70 year old Grand mother and yes the pool was cold as it was the year before they are full of excuses, the caravan was full of flys i think the industrial park next door had something to do with that ,, thay gave us a tin of fly spray and tryed to charge us for it when i refused they took it back and told us theres a shop over the road !
food was vile boil in a bag is better. theres no parking near the caravan and the steps to the upper caravans are decking yes decking so slip and slide your way down. theres no lighting or sercurty around the park (pitch and put what pitch and put? i was told)...
its run by a women who thinks shes better then you and she tells you so if you complain Beware stay well clear of this women and site ,,,,,,

Yes There Were A Few Things That Could Be Better A
Yes there were a few things that could be better at Rookley Country Park but on the Isle of Wight you are never far away from attractions so this should not be rated down. The fishing has been good, staff as helpful as they can be and the food as good as before. The lodge we stayed in was clean and had everything we could have asked for. I agree with others the site information is misleading as the pitch and putt is a grassy area and the shop is actually the co-op across the road. The swimming pool is not heated and there could be more chairs and changing rooms etc but the children enjoyed it. Overall though it is what you make it, for us it has been a relaxing time away and a safe place for our daughter to be in, plus fishing on uour doorstep!!

Just Got Back From A Christmas And New Year Break
Just got back from a christmas and new year break at rookley park and would not be returning. Myself and my family paid a total amount of £2100 to be told a week before we would depart that we would have to pay £23.50 each even for children to attend the new years eve party, thats even if we only wanted to attend for 2hours because of having young children. Then also informed that the use of the swimming pool wouldnt be available due to problems out of there hands, to then see when we got there it was because it was being used for storage for the tables for the new years eve party!! I was informed at reception that if there was any sports we wanted to watch just ask and the bar staff would turn it on, and what a surprise i was told they cancelled sky 2weeks ago because of the cost.
During our stay we went to the bar to attend some entertainment for the children on a couple of occasions, to be told from the bar staff that there was nothing on. Once my daughter had a little moan they then said they would put some music on for the kids, not realising that we needed to be dressed in our coats, scarfs and hats as there was no heating so all they had running was a blow heater. So we soon realised that we had paid all this money for a holiday where there was nothing at all for our children to do, which is completely different to what is stated in the brochure.
We were however pleased with the accomadation we stayed in which was a bungalow but can you really justify paying this amount to stay in for nearly 2weeks?? So the best bit of the holiday was the ferry home im afraid
