Dont Listen To The Haters

Riverside Caravan centre was a wonderful park to stay at! one of the best yet!

we had our 2 kids with us. we stayed for a week in the beginning of October

the kids loved the entertainment staff and looked forwards to the activities in the day and in the evening which took the stress of us the pool complex was very clean although the outdoor is shut now because it is the winter. the indoor was heated and very clean though!

the caravan was clean and efficient with all the cooking equipment needed, and the complementary tea and coffee was a nice touch, not many parks i have been too do that. bit chilly in October so we booked a double glazed van and it made all the difference. the bar staff where very friendly and chatty.

on arrival i realised it was in a retail park that put me off. but in actual fact once on the park its beautiful! all the flower displays are wonderful and the grass was short!! very rare! the shops aren't to faraway either, which is good for the food shopping! full English breakfast in the morning in the cafe good value for money we had one every day!

we did however run out of gas but they came straight away and changed the bottle and apologised for the inconvenience. i recommend to anyone with families because it kept my kids busy and entertained for the whole week! great food! great accommodation! great staff! i will be returning in the new year. the adult bar was a nice add on to have so we could have a drink by ourselves without all the entertainment noise and meet some of the owners that are there most of the time! friendly place very happy!

“disappointing(i Felt Like Crying)”

Where do i start, the caravan park is on a retail park, the staff were nice when we checked in and that was really the only nice thing about this hoilday, the park itself looks 'ok' when we got to our cavavan and went inside it was like walking into a freezer, ok just put the heating i said but no we didnt have any just a gas fire which didnt give out much heat, we asked if we could upgrade and was willing to pay but was told they were full, i beleive they should never have rented us this van in such cold weather and it wouldn't cost them much to put heaters in the bedrooms and bathroom, the van also had not NO double glazing so any heat from the fire when out the windows, the caravan was clean apart from the livingroom carpet which was very stained and the van smelt of smoke, the webside needs to make it more clear about which vans have heating and which dont, 3 nights and we didnt sleep it was so cold, the park seems to allow locals to use the park whenever they want, after an evening out we returned to the park and a group of local youths were messing around inside the park on bikes and scooters it didnt make us feel very safe, we didnt go into the club in the evenings so can't comment on that but my little girl loved the pool which was clean, we tried to book another hotel within the area but with it been easter weekend they were all full so had to stay here, this has to be the worse hoilday we have ever had and on the day we left i smiled.

Myself And My Children Loved It

I found the staff there excelant the caravan was spotless and very moden we went back in april last year the weather was horrible but the staff made sure all kids we're happy. The pool was very clean. They also have a 24 hour tescos right out side which was very handy. Entertanment was fantastic. It has not got as much as some other parks but it suited me and my 5 kids fine and value for money. Yes it is near a main road but I nor my children was disturbed. Defo would go again xw

Lovely Caravan, But Left A Day Early Due To Noise

Just returned from Riverside a day early to catch up on our sleep!! Visited Friday 31st August - Sunday 2nd September (actually booked until the 3rd), with my 85 year old mother, and my daughter who is on crutches and awaiting a foot op.

Site was tidy and clean, with access through a barrier. There was no exit barrier in place. Check-in was very good and, with two disabled people in the party, we were allowed in early. Caravan was lovely, and very clean. Just a couple of faults with a broken toilet roll holder, and one of the blinds which didn't work. There was no ice box in the fridge. Beds weren't made up - just packs of plastic-wrapped bedding left on each bed - this was slightly disappointing, and didn't look very welcoming after a long drive.

We managed to locate the caravan reasonably easily via the main driveway, which carried a speed limit of 10mph; however, the access roads are very busy, with cars constantly coming in and out at speed. One little girl had run in front our car, so very glad we didn't have young children as it would have been a constant worry. However, it was a bonus being able to park right up to the steps.

We stayed in caravan 435, which backs onto the children's play area. There was obviously a lot of shrieking during the day, which can only be expected, but, rioutous, older teens used the area as a meeting place in the early hours of the morning, and at 01:30, we still hadn't managed to get to sleep. With gates to the playground in situ, we failed to understand why these weren't locked at dusk. No-one was seen checking the area next day, so there could easily have been broken glass etc.

The mornings were chilly, but we found the caravan's central heating system was excellent, and the shower was a good size with a good supply of hot running water. Oven was slow but worked fine.

Apart from a quick drink in the members' bar we didn't use the nightclub facilities, so cannot really comment. Our only observations were that it was fairly packed out, and looked pretty rough, with campers coming in from other campsites to use the facilities. We distinctly overheard one gentlemen speaking to someone on a mobile to say "the barrier's open, so just drive in". We wondered why Riverside bothered to have an entrance barrier/swipe card in the first place, especially as there's no exit barrier and people access the site through there!!

Night two was the worst. Whilst the playground was quiet, the main driveway wasn't, and cars were streaming in and out throughout the night. Caravan 436 (car registration SD61 KTA - thank you very much!!) decided to party until 03:30, and then play guitars until 05:30 - naturally, we assumed security would check the site during the night, but apparently you have to call them with any problems. We didn't, as the people were clearly the worse for wear; they were 'entertaining' a number of visitors from other caravans, and we didn't want repraisals.(My daughter isn't at all well and becomes easily agitated). Other caravans must also have been affected by the noise, and we were sorry to see the paramedic arrive at caravan 437 the following morning, and an ambulance eventually took an older person to hospital. We hope he recovers soon.

I should also add that the traffic during Saturday night and the early hours of Sunday was really busy, and it did often feel as though we were parked on the edge of a busy main road.

With all of us exhausted from two nights' missing sleep, we decided to cut the holiday short by one day, and return home on the 2nd September rather than the 3rd. By then we were all feeling pretty rough, and there was no way we could have endured another night there. There wasn't much reaction from Reception, and the receptionist had to rummage to find a complaints form. Later, when I handed the key in, nothing was said.

Whilst the caravan was very nice, we won't be going back to Riverside. If you're looking for peace and quiet, as we were, then DON'T book there!!

The Best You Can Say Is That It's Ok

The title says it all really. There is nothing essentially wrong with Riverside, it's ok. But then there is nothing outstanding either. The caravan was clean and warm, but when you looked closer you started to notice the faults.

The kettle dribbled hot water everywhere, the grill on the cooker didn't work, the top step to the caravan door was broken, the bath mat was a bit skanky, the tv gave out a pitched whistle, the ice box in the fridge had to be jammed shut, the main table in the caravan had a wobbly top. None of these taken individually are major problem but they give a general impression of being run down.

As I said none of these are major issues but when you paid for something in good faith you're left feeling a little let down. Also, as some have mentioned previously most of the caravans seem to be used by the owners and you do sometimes get the feeling that you are intruding into a private club.

However, I must admit that before we arrived we emailed for some information and the customer service was second to none.

Riverside Caravan Park-what A Mistake!

ok where to start...I returned two days ago. So this is a very honest review

the biggest let down was defintatly the children's entertainment the 'rascals club' is only for 45minutes each day (if that) it literally started at 7pm the kids entertainers came on stage sang and danced to a few songs (cha cha slide, pineapple song, superman) then they all take the kids over to a basically a room the size of a front room with soft play in, very small room locked up all day then had 30kids running round, it was hot and smelly and the kids would run wild unsupervised. I went the 1st day with mine and then they didn't even want to go back! also the children who own caravans there I found to be very rough like street children.

The family entertainers consisted of three 18year olds who were friends with all of the caravan owners & their teenage children. my kids didn't get a look in. And to be honest they were all pikeys! The kids of parents you see stocking up on sweets in a cheap supermarket slapping & swearing at there kids

The tuck shop-is literally a tuck shop lollipops & ice creams.

We went to the on site restraunt for the Sunday Carvary got there an hour before it ended & it was empty with left overs on the serving trays. Very strange.

Lovely children's paddling pool, open 10-5.

Nearest beach was a 30-40minute walk away through the town.

The holiday was a let down cost £600

Spent lots of money in the tescos next door to the site buying thing to keep my two busy. Paddling pool, bubbles and balls and things.

Next year I will definitely be spending a little more to go to butlins!

Avoid riverside. Unless you want a week away of boredom

Disappointing.

We were very disappointed with our holiday, the campsite is located in a retail park off a dual carriageway. We found the site noisy, with cars revving past late at night, noise from loud music and drinkers also late into the night, there was also a surprising number of vans driving past. The caravan was not ready when we arrived, no bed linen and missing crockery. The carpet was very stained. We considered leaving early.

This caravan park is so friendly and clean,

The pool is at just the right temp and the changing rooms where so clean

the ents team where fantastic with the kids and had a really good skedule that worked for kids and adults

if your cold in you caravan either book it in a better time for weather or BOOK A CENTRAL HEATED VAN.

the town itself was beautiful and having a 24hour tesco next door is brilliant, such good value for money

The food is too a good standard quick and easy

van was superb and clean had all the things you needed and a great tv!

Welcome To Hell!

Oh my! where do I begin?

The caravan was filthy. The smell was rancid from all the previous occupants who had smoked a thousand cigarettes. The door didn't close properly and bearing in mind it was October, they should never have sold us this holiday as it was so cold we left a day early. The caravan had no proper heating other then a small gas fire which quite frankly was pointless as it didn't heat up. Luckily we took some extra bedding from home or else there is a good chance we would never have survived!

The caravan was in a general state of disrepair. The shower was knackered and was like standing out in the rain. The toilet stank but no one could put their finger on what exactly it stank of.....sends shivers down my spine thinking of it. The sofa and carpets were filthy and stained.

The park was situated between a tesco carpark and an electricity sub station with an industrial estate behind it, on a dual carriage way.

The swimming pool was nice, just unbearably hot. The staff all seamed friendly but this was not enough to overcome the caravan's shortcomings. We left after two days and went home for a good scrub!! Even our small children were grateful to leave, our dog couldn't bear it and spent most of the holiday trying to get in the car!!!

We woke up this morning utterly grateful to be home!

Dont Be Put Off By Other Reviews, Read This

We stayed at riverside in the first week in september my parents had a basic van for a dog, ok it was basic, but clean, supplied sith cleaning products, tea, cofee milk and sugar on arrival and everything was there. we upgraded and it was worth it we had the vans by the childrens park, lovely, beautifully clean, and i am fussy.

i looked at google before we went and scared the life out of myself, this site though is lovely. the staff will help if they can

the pool is superb, warm and clean, and not deep great for kids.

the entertainment was on to late at night for us at 9 with a 3 year old, i cant stay out that late but the kids loved meeting the charachters every night and enjoyed talking to the ents staff,

the ball pit is small but cute and kept my two happy, only open from 10 - 2 though.

the food on site is good, adult burger meal is big enough to cut in two for children

sharing platter was lovely and the chips and salsa divine

the ents staff did the morning activity even though there was only my 2 on site and it was age approriate and they loved it.

the cafe was shut as was tuck shop due to lack of people on site but tesco is 5 mins away as is pizza hut, burger king and kfc

hoffham park is worht a visit for kids

dont get put off by location this park is lovely you dont see the estate it is on and you dont hear it, this is the cleanest park i have ever stayed on and the childrens park is great

go have a fabulous holiday i know we will return
