Dated And Horrible
Step back to the days of hi-de-hi ripped chairs and the smell of damp when you opened the wardrobe doors was minging couldnt take clothes out of the suitcase. When asked for another chair was told if a chalet came empty they would bring us one the beds were so un comfortable the springs were poping through. Very dated dirty they spray full can of air freshner to try to disguise the smell. We tried to move some where else but was all booked up will never go again

Horrible Smell
Very old accommodation. Sofa bed not comfortable at all. The smell in the chalet is discussing. Left early my holiday as we couldn't stand the smell and couldn't sleep.
The chalet needs to be updating and cleaned.

Outstanding Holiday Venue
If you want a holiday where you are pampered with lovely staff who will go out of their way to make your holiday brilliant, food to die for and clean chalets then this is the place. The only thing we hated was leaving. Booked already for next year. Thom in the arcade and Suzy deserves a big mention, but all and I really do mean all the staff deserves a lot of praise.

Amazing
My whole family and I booked a holiday at the riviera bay in devon, we very much enjoyed, amazing entertainment. Only so sad that the people who are doing the show are leaving, I think everyone in the park enjoyed there stay and especial enjoyed the company of the
Performers and only wish they would come back all together as a group and do another season, enjoyed the chalet but just could of done with a better tv. But overall enjoyed my stay and would come back the following year if the entertainment people performed there again.
Did A Short Break With A Newspaper Offer. Dreadful
Did a short break with a newspaper offer. Dreadful dreadful, nothing positive to say about chalet. Gulls poop on door, dreadful smell in chalet and left after 1 day. One positive was the walk from park into Brixham, but obviously that was down to nature and not Park Holidays!
Having Visited Many Sites In The South For Short B
Having visited many sites in the south for short breaks with the children, we were excited to arrive in Devon and had high hopes for Riviera Bay. Sadly it was not what we thought it would be. The chalet was dated, dirty and the beds were uncomfortable... like sleeping on a plank of wood! The TV was an 'old' portable, the bathroom was dated with exposed pipes and no shower. When I asked about a shower, they said they would send over a hand held unit for us... which was a foot long and very old!! The bedroom was very dirty, the fridge was rusty and leaked and the frying pan was a joke... we went out and bought a new one! There were only 3 knives and forks even though there were clearly 4 people booked in and the crockery set was made up of about 5 different sets... nothing matched. We loved going out and exploring the area, but coming back to the chalet filled us all with dread! I hated it and so did my children... I would never go there again! Sadly the entertainment was basic and finding a parking spot proved a bit of a lottery! For those who rave about the park... I can only imagine they know the management. Saying that, the staff were all very helpful and I could not fault them at all. It's sad they are heavily let down by their place of work.
We Stayed In A Silver Chalet And It Was Awful, God
We stayed in a silver chalet and it was awful, god knows what the bronze is like. Overpowering smell of damp pervading whole chalet , dirty saucepans and ridiculously small tea cups and plates. Dirty linen left in cupboard. Sofa bed was excruciating barely slept and left to go home after 4 nights . Basically whole place needs alot of money spent on it very shabby , yeah views are nice but you have to practically abseil to get to beach as down a long track so not suitable for young children.
I Was Disappointed With The Accommodation; Conside
I was disappointed with the accommodation; Considering the price, the basic essentials of a standard chalet were not there. The bed for the parents was a top cushion from the old settee and another pull out section from underneath. I had terrible back pain after just one night sleep so then had to kip in with my two children for the rest of the holiday. The bathroom was not only grubby but had no shower facilities apart from an old hand held hose! Not particularly impressive.Hoards of seagulls wake you every morning at around 5am, although not the fault of the holiday park, it is still very annoying.
I still would recommend Riviera Bay as after all this the staff are amazing.
Particularly the entertainment team who go out of their way to welcome you and get to know you, they made our stay at Riviera bay one of the best holidays we have had and in the end the gripes seemed irrelevant. If you can book a gold chalet or caravan with better facilities, your in for an awesome break.
The Problems: Double Bed Was Smaller Than Standar
The problems: Double bed was smaller than standard and husband ended up on sofa for second and third nights we were there. Very uncomfortable. Twin room had two tiny twin beds in it but fine for small child. Very little storage space even for weekend, main wardrobe in living room. Shower was a rubber hose to attach to taps over small narrow bath. Impossible to get to the beach by the park with small children due to cliff with very narrow steps, we had to drive to a beach. Amusement arcade right by reception and restaurant made steering children away difficult. Adequate kitchen but extractor fan did not work so smoke alarm went off every morning we were there when I cooked breakfast despite having doors and windows open.
Good points: Friendly staff especially in pool and restaurant. Decent pub grub, filling but not 'gourmet'.
Overall I would not go again and would not recommend to anyone due to discomfort of the chalet.
The Accommodation Was Very Poor Indeed At Riviera
The accommodation was very poor indeed at riviera bay. There was mould on the window frames, a bad musty smell throughout and it was not clean. The bathroom floor was especially disgusting.
The fittings were also cheap and we got the impression that the accommodation was "on its last legs". It needs to be gutted.
Bottom line - the accommodation was not at a suitable (reasonable) standard and meant we had a bad holiday experience.
We would not recommend this resort for the accommodation which was exceptionally poor.
I am struggling to understand why this would be an acceptable resort. If this is an exceptional standard then I am truly lost for words.
I found this review very helpful because...it is spot on, and also it's clear that when we went in April 2010 the situation is the same. Many of the fittings are on their last legs and not up to reasonable modern standards of acceptability
