Left A Day Early!
We got here on 7th July, just out of peak time on purpose as we were taking our dog and our 8 month old baby so didn't want the park to be swarming with children knowing that we would be leaving the dog in the caravan to treat ourselves to breakie, lunch and dinner in the restaurant within the park. When we got there we read the information pack and it said that the restaurant would not open until 4pm! I was confused as it clearly started that the park restaurant was open all day!.. So I asked in reception only to be told that unfortunately we have booked out of peak times so the restaurant, and the entertainment were not available as it's 'not busy!' And that if I wanted to eat out then I needed to drive out into bude town and find a restaurant! Now I payed for my dog to attend the holiday with us and as a result could obviously not leave the dog on it's own in the caravan while I drove off out of the park! He couldn't come with us as he can't come in the restaurants with us! We chose the holiday park because it advertised that it had everything we needed right there on site within walking distance! Having no staff there because it is off peak is a joke! Why then was it advertised to is that there would be entertainment throughout the day and night for our little girl, but once got there was told there were no staff to do any! We are customers who have payed to stay there, as it was there is hardly anything to do in this holiday park as it is so anything they do have should be open to the customers they have taken money from! They shouldn't be open if that's the case!! The only thing that was open was the swimming pool and good god the staff there were so miserable it was unreal!.. At one point as we were swimming I turned around to see the 'life guard' with her eyes closed having a snooze!! The pool in the pic that was advertised in the park was in fact the pool in the leisure centre in town! The arcade was a tiney room with a few machines in it! The only positive thing I can say about the holiday was that the caravan was good, I didn't expect it to be as nice being a 'dog' caravan! We only have one holiday a year and unfortunately it didn't feel like a holiday what so ever, we didn't have dinner out, we didn't have any entertainment, and the beach nearby was not available from 12-1 onwards as the tide would come in and leave no beach left to stand on so had nothing to do in the day either! As a result we left a day early and wished we hadn't driven 200 miles to experience such a thing! Very disappointed and would never go back or recommend especially if you have young children!
Never Seen A Five Star
After saving a very lomg time for what I thought would be the perfect family holiday I have to say i was gutted at paying for two weeks and returning after one.
I became ill because our caravan was so damp. I took a birthday cake down for my daughters birthday for the end of the first week. When i went to get it from the cupboard it had all collapsed and gone soft due to damp.
I won't go on about all the bad points but I would never ever go there again it has never seen a five star site I have stayed in more stunning 3 star sites. Sum up in one word SHOCKING !!!!!
Ok, But Not Fantastic
Clean park and caravan, but lacking in things to do when the weather is poor. I chose it as it was small and I hoped wouldn't be the loud and in your face site. It wasn't. The pool could do with a good clean and the lockers don't provide a key you can hang on your wrist whilst you're in the pool. Where do they expect you to put it? The arcade is lacking in working machines and the evening entertainment needs a rethink, bingo every night with the mad hour until the 9.30 gets a bit tiresome night after night. The menu is basic and a bit overpriced even if you wanted a burger as a takeaway, I think £7 is a bit steep. Not far from the beach, but perhaps a warning that there's a risk of breaking ankles trying to get to it. The on-site shop offers basic items, but thankfully a major supermarket isn't too far away via car. We won't be returning.
Been There For The Last 3 Years,in October 2years
Been there for the last 3 years,in october 2years ago,and we weny august last year. We have now booked for the october of this year, which is Halloween week, AND we know its going to be a great week.
EVERYONE THERE from the CLEANERS to the ENTERTAINMENT STAFF was ALL FRIENDLY. Karinda and the rest of the team were great. WHEN you have a place like this, who gives a thought about the weather. THE pirate play park aswell, all weather flooring. CARAVANS SPOTLESS,caravans 94 on the far side great, was in 15 with the varanders in august.
THIS october in the caravan RIGHT next to the park and OPPOSITE THE CLUB, number 49. CANNOT WAIT, from the Cardiff crew
I Have Just Returned From A Week At Sandymouth. It
i have just returned from a week at sandymouth. it was the oct half term. and wow what a fab week all the staff went above and beyond for everyone. i heard through the grapevine while we were there that the previous year it was a family run park, but i think that you would never know it wasn't. the caravan was so clean and we had a wonderful welcome when we arrived. we were a little early and while we waited in the bar 2 lovely entertainer gave my kids things to do which was lovely. talking about the entertainment i was amazed with the talent and enthusiasm from them. the entertainments manger carinda had obviously put a lot of work into the programme and it showed (well done) i see big things for her and what a lovely young lady. the other girls emily and claire were also a credit to her and sandymoouth my kids liked martin, i can see why he is liked but we couldn't sit though him singing that was to much. the food was great and the service was second to none. we will re rebooking then the new Boucher's come out.
I found this review very helpful because... We have never been before as we have holidayes with John Fowlers, for the last 10 years and after last year at trelawne manor we will definately not be going again to any Fowlers parks, we know Karinda from years ago, and have only just caught up with her through Face book.
Having read the rest of the reviews we didnt hesitate to book
You Used To Be Able To Hire Bbq's And Bikes But Si
You used to be able to hire bbq's and bikes but since the new company has taken over they are no longer available. Also, the condition of the caravans has deteriorated - taps leak, hot water is unrealiable, bed linen (including mattresses) and curtains are mouldy. One of the driers was out of order for the whole week we were there - why wasn't it fixed? The only good thing was the weather - we had the best week for years (the August bank holiday week)! Entertainment was poor, although the staff did make a good effort. The 'cabaret' turn wore an old tacky jacket and his shoes were dirty. His voice wasn't bad though, but his ad libs/comments were particularly unfunny. Shan't be going back there again.
We have been to Sandymouth for 2 years running with friends and always find the park well run-even with the new owners. We did have a problem with our caravan last year but it was sorted out immediately. The location of the park is amazing-the views are perfect and the beach is just down the road-you can walk down to it in about 15 minutes. If you are fit and healthy you may like to walk back up the hill too!The shop on the site is stocked fairly well and the assistants are were really friendly.I'm not so keen on the entertainment room and it is expensive, but plenty of people are and some of the entertainers are quite good(can't say I would judge the entertainers by their shoes.)Lots of people go to the park often, my kids loved it there(aged 10 and 14)especially as they saw people they had met before. We usually go abroad but the kids say these were one of the best holidays they have had.
Just Returned From A Great Holiday At Sandymouth.
Just returned from a great holiday at Sandymouth. Very clean and friendly holiday park. Very reasonable prices and the food was great. Entertainment staff were lovely both my kids loved them. The only gripe I have is that the beds were not made in the caravan and when you have paid summer holiday prices I would expect them to be made and included in the price. Pool was excellent clean and actually nice and warm! which makes a change. I think this is probably the only holiday park I would stay in again as it is far the best in quality. Even though it cost a little more its 100% worth it.
Had 2 Weeks In Our Touring Caravan Nice Pitch Very
had 2 weeks in our touring caravan nice pitch very clean well kept site the tribute beer in the club kept running out 4 times with only 1 real ale a bit of a let down the camp shop was very poorly stocked no pastries croissants when shop opened, over all the shop lets the site down, toilets closed 11am-12 for cleaning often not open at 12.30 needs sorting out would go again but needs a bit of improvement,as mentioned. food in cafe/club varied but over all very good.
Just Returned After Our 3rd Stay At Sandymouth And
just returned after our 3rd stay at Sandymouth and we feel let down, the place now lacks that special appeal that it previously had prior to the take over. The caravans were clean but not gleaming where previously they would have been, the entertainment lacked imagination and our children were bored of the repetition every night.
We Have Just Returned From Our 5th Stay At Sandymo
We have just returned from our 5th stay at Sandymouth in the last 3 years, we are currently in the luxurious position of having 2 kids under school age so are able to go outside of the school holidays, the park is fantastic, very clean, landscaped gardens, brilliant bar/cafe area which is not to big but big enough to be able to be able to see the kids at all times. The pirate ship play area is fantastic, the staff as always are second to none, my only gripe this year is that 3 hire facilities (barbecue, bicycles and internet) have been removed the new owners who took over in April, theres absolutely tonnes to do in the local area, kids and adults will absolutely love it!!!!
