We've Just Returned From Staying At Le Moulin Fort

We've just returned from staying at Le Moulin fort.

It was very busy-but as we stayed in the first 2 weeks of August, it was bound to be! The staff were pleasant and helpful-reception,bar & cleaning staff-and the toilet blocks are cleaned twice daily, so were always in clean & tidy condition.

There is a kids club with activities most days,(not used by us, but I can appreciate that it's nice to get a break for a couple of hours!) I was pleased to see that night watchman made his rounds overnight, as there have been comments from a few years ago about security.

The site itself is handy for visiting Tours, Blois & Amboise, as it is close to a motorway, and, of course, the chateau de Chenonceau is a 15 minute away along the river bank. However, there is no access to the chateau from that side-you have to cross the river and go through the main gates from the Chenonceaux village side of the river.

Nice site, nice people-busy (not forgetting it's August after all), but quiet at night.

Le Moulin Fort Is A Great Site With Great Standar

Le Moulin Fort is a great site with great standards and very helpfull owners who do not tolerate lager louts, noisy campers or anti social behavior (if you want to booze till 04.00am go to the Vendee) and if you would not want to go back to this great site- good you are probably not the type of person they want or many people would want to camp next to.

This Is A Great Site For Children And If You Like

This is a great site for children and if you like a little bit of Britain abroad. Only a few other nationalities here. The location is second to none. So much to do close by. Contrary to another review we found quite few friendly campers at night time, although there were a lot groups and they tended not to mix very well.

Most other campers were there to enjoy their holiday but we were sadly confronted by a Brit who didn't like children running round (in the School Holidays). I'm not sure whether I would go back again. I probably would if the current owners sold the site!

This Is A Small Family Run Campsite With Excellent

This is a small family run campsite with excellent facilities. The shower block is very clean and the grounds well looked after. The shop is well stocked with the basics should you forget anything and they offer bread and pastries (which you order the day before). We didn't try the restaurant as we preferred to explore the nearby villages.Although we can't recommend this campsite enough, part of us wants to keep it a secret!

We Stayed Here In 2004. We Had A Reasonable Time V

We stayed here in 2004. We had a reasonable time visiting many of the towns and villages in the area. The French people were cheerful, happy, laid back and accommodating. The proprietor of Le Moulingn Fort was anything but. He seemed to be constantly on the prowl for people who transgressed any of his personal standards.I found him to be rude and patronising and not too tolerant of the people we became friendly with who did not share our British culture.I would never stay at this camp site again because of the petty, impatient and intolerant attitude of the owner. I understand the reasons for rules and collective responsibility, especially in a camp site but this was like being at school.I lefty school 30 years ago and have held down a responsible job ever since. I don't come on holiday to be told what to do.A lovely location spoiled, for me, by the proprietor

It Upsets Me When I See Hurtful Comments From Peop

It upsets me when I see hurtful comments from people who only know one side of the story. The owners work very hard whilst trying to raise a young family, the youngest is only 18 months old. The man in particular works from early morning until late at night and it is quite clear when the bar opening times are, in high season it is all day. I find both extremely nice people who work hard to look after their guests.

The Owners Are Picky, Rude And Treat Their Staff A

The owners are picky, rude and treat their staff abysmally.

I felt extremely sorry for the poor girls working there Unfortunately their attitudes and rudeness does not end there, however is extended to their clients. We cut our visit sort because of this.

We Stayed Here In 2005 And The Location Is Absolut

We stayed here in 2005 and the location is absolutely fine. I agree with the review about leaving the bar early. I found some staff to be fussy. We were on holiday and we did not want to be treated as if we were at school.

Perhaps some of the staff have their own opinions of what they want to achieve but when you pay as much to stay as we did then we would expect to be treated a bit better.

Won't go back again.

We close the bar between 10pm and 11pm, depending on how many people are still in the bar at this time. Our evening entertainment always finishes by 11pm out of a general respect for all our campers who don't necessarily want to be disturbed by people going back to their tents in the early hours of the morning. Our campsite is well-maintained and we try to run it to suit the majority of our clients - couples and families with young children who want a stress-free holiday. If it makes us fussy, sorry. However, we'd appreciate it if you could make your opinions known while you are on the campsite, rather than writing negative reports on websites such as these. We do try and rectify any problems we are aware of at the time.

We Visited This Site In June 2007 And Expected To

We visited this site in June 2007 and expected to be blown away with the service given the other review we read on this website. We must say we were disappointed. Being asked to leave the bar because the owners family was asleep in the top of the house was ridiculous and he was not very subtle in asking us to leave. We are in our 50's and it was the first time either of us have been asked to leave a bar in Europe before 4.00am! We were much better treated at a French run site in Jard su Mer the week before.

I found this review unhelpful because... I found the bar to be open until 11.00pm in the peak season (plenty late enough) taking into consideration that this is a family site and those with children do not want to be woken up at all hours by drunk brits stumbling back to their units. Yes the shop is basic, it stocks the essentials. There is a choice of four supermarkets within a 10 min travelling distance of the site for bulk buying. I also found that the staff were friendly and helpful.

I find this reviewer's attitude appalling. I don't know what sort of campsites he goes to but I wouldn't want to be on them. Most reputable campsites are quiet after 11 p.m. and that it what most campers want, particularly those with young families and those wanting a peaceful holiday. If you want nightlife I suggest you go off the campsite, or go to one which advertises nightlife.

As for not getting bread unless you order it the day before, again that is perfectly normal.

We Spent 4 Weeks At The Loire Valley, Le Moulin Fo

We spent 4 weeks at the Loire Valley, Le Moulin Fort site in August 2005. John and Sarah are great hosts, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The campsite is one of the cleanest we have been to. Everything was immaculate. Very picturesque, peaceful and an absolute joy to stay at. We were so impressed we booked again before we left for this year for another 4 weeks. If you want somewhere to stay that is not full of hustle and bustle and noise this is the place to stay. The weather was fantastic and the pool was very welcoming. There are some themed evenings which are inexpensive the food and wine was also inexpensive and very good. A beautiful area. The site is a credit to John and Sarah. This site is highly recommended.
